All About Kyler Murray’s Parents, Mom Missy and Dad Kevin

Kyler Murray’s parents, Missy and Kevin Murray, have always supported their son in his NFL career.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback was born to his proud parents in 1997 as the youngest of three siblings. Kevin, who played in the NFL himself, trained Kyler as a child, while Missy played a bigger role in his professional career.

Since Kyler joined the NFL, Missy has begun working for him, both as the business manager of his company, K1 Promotions, and also as the manager of the Kyler Murray Charity Foundation, per her LinkedIn.

Kyler has credited both his parents for helping him get to where he is today. “My mom always says I got my brains from her and my athleticism from my father,” the quarterback told KBS WORLD English in March 2025. “I was blessed and privileged enough to grow up with a dad who played at the highest level and was really good at it. So, I had his tutelage and mentorship.”

Here’s everything to know about Kyler Murray’s parents, Missy and Kevin Murray.

Missy and Kevin have a daughter, Precious, and two sons, Kevin Jr. and Kyler. Kyler is the youngest and was born on Aug. 7, 1997.

On a 2022 episode of the Who Is Your Momma? podcast, Missy said that she became a mother at a young age and credited her own parents with helping her adjust.

“Being a young mother, any young mothers know the challenge it is,” Missy shared. “Me, personally, my parents supported me in a way they made me responsible.”

Kevin had a successful high school and college football career as an All-State quarterback at North Dallas High School and was named Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex Offensive Player of the Year in his senior season.

He played football for Texas A&M University and subsequently signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL and then the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL, but retired due to injury.

Meanwhile, his brother, Calvin, played professional baseball for the San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs.

Missy has both Korean and American heritage. Her father, Master Sgt. Carl W. Henderson Jr., served in the U.S. Army and Navy for 35 years, during which time he met Missy’s mother.

In March 2025, Kyler visited South Korea for the first time alongside his parents and siblings. Speaking to KBS WORLD English, he shared that his mom raised him to embrace the culture, including the food, and even taught him how to speak the language (though he joked it wasn’t his strong suit).

“It means a lot, it’s who I am,” he said of his Korean heritage. “It’s part of who I am and it’s in me, so why would I not be proud of that side of me?”

In 2023, Kyler donated $15,000 to support William Cho, a six-year-old Korean American boy who lost his family in a mass shooting in Allen, Texas.

After retiring as a player himself, Kevin worked as the quarterback coach at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, and also set up the Air 14 Quarterback Academy, helping train Kyler, too.

“Kevin is a very intense instructor with all his clients and his kid. He teaches them all the same way,” Missy told Sports Illustrated. “I’ve been to his lessons, and I’ve been like, ‘You’re being a little too hard.’ But that’s his way, and it works.”

Missy has had a variety of jobs and has worked for companies including Verizon and DHL, per her LinkedIn. After spending six years as an office manager at TEOCO, she became the business manager for Kyler’s company, K1 Promotions. She’s also been the manager of the Kyler Murray Charity Foundation since 2024.

When giving his speech after winning the Heisman Trophy in 2018, Kyler paid tribute to his parents.

“To my parents, my family, my dad. I think it goes without saying that you’re a legend to me,” he said. “You taught me everything that I know about this game, and I honestly feel like you should be up here with me, because I really wouldn’t be up here if it weren’t for you introducing me to this game. So thank you, and I love you.”

Kyler then proceeded to thank Missy, who was tearing up in the audience. “To my mom, you’re my best friend,” he said. “I could be up here all day talking about you, but for me, I’m just thankful that you’re my mother, and I love you.”
