Paris Hilton‘s latest career endeavor has earned approval from two of her biggest critics — her children.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the multi-hyphenate star, 44, says son Phoenix Barron, 2, and daughter London Marilyn, 22 months, are big fans of her new children’s television show, Paris & Pups.

“They were the first test subjects for the show,” Hilton says. “It was so cute to see every moment that they laughed at or every moment that really captured their attention, and they’ve loved every single episode. It’s made me really happy.”

The mom of two adds that her new project has been a welcome addition to Phoenix and London’s usual lineup of entertainment programming.

“They don’t like many things besides Moana, so the fact that we’ve been able to watch something other than that for the 350th time has been amazing,” Hilton admits with a laugh. “I think CoComelon and those shows are annoying and boring, so I think a lot of parents are going to be happy that now there’s something that they can actually enjoy while they watch with the kids, too.”

Paris & Pups — inspired by Hilton and her own real-life pets — follows 12-year-old Paris, a.k.a. Star, and her five dogs, who live in the penthouse of The Fabuluxe Hotel.

The show, crafted through a partnership with Hilton’s 11:11 Media and HappyNest Entertainment and 9 Story Media Group, even features a “so catchy” and “so cute” original theme song, performed by Hilton herself.

Speaking about the new project, Hilton tells PEOPLE, “This is such a dream come true, because I’ve been thinking about this animated series since I was literally 5 years old. I always loved cartoons, and it was always a dream just to do one that was based on me and my puppies.”

According to the “Stars Are Blind” singer, “It was important … for every episode to really have a moral to the story and a lesson to be learned, and something that’s inspiring and just showing love and kindness and spreading sparkle.”

Hilton, a longtime pet parent, tells PEOPLE that getting to pass down her love of animals to her two kids, whom she shares with husband Carter Reum, is an experience like no other.

“I’ve been an animal lover my entire life, and I think that’s so important to really instill that into your children,” she says.

“They’ve been around animals since they were born, and they love them so much,” continues the Parívie founder. “They’re so gentle with them, and so kind and so loving, and it really teaches kids love, responsibility, empathy and being kind and taking care of something.”

“The number one thing about being a dog mom is just how much happiness that is brought into my life. My dogs are my first babies before I had kids,” adds Hilton.

Paris & Pups is now available to watch on YouTube, with new episodes being dropped weekly.
