Meet the 10 Kids of the ‘High Potential’ Cast
The cast of ABC’s High Potential spends their days solving crimes on-screen, but at home, they’re busy raising kids.
The crime drama — which returned for season 2 on Sept. 16 — and continues to follow Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), a single mom with a 160 IQ who works as a cleaning lady at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). After unexpectedly cracking a case, she’s recruited as a civilian consultant for the department’s major crimes unit.
While Olson’s Morgan balances motherhood and major crimes on-screen, her costars — including Judy Reyes, Steve Howey and Taran Killam — are navigating parenthood off-screen, too. For her part, Olson shares two sons, Axel and Leo, with her husband, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney. The kids have even inherited their parents’ sense of humor — to their detriment, Olson joked in March 2025.
“Listen, they’re both very funny. But at this age, the sense of humor they’ve adapted from us is just so horrifically inappropriate,” she said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “We’re like, ‘Ooo! You’re so close! Like in a few years, you’re going to fine-tune that and be so funny, but you can’t say that at school.’ “
Here’s everything to know about the 10 children of the High Potential cast members.

Olson — who plays Morgan, the series’ brilliant but unconventional investigator — shares two children with McElhenney. The couple welcomed their older son, Axel Lee, in September 2010 and their younger son, Leo Grey, in April 2012.
The couple have been pretty private about their children over the years. However, they appeared in an episode of McElhenney’s docuseries Welcome to Wrexham — a decision that Olson wasn’t happy with.
“We’d talked about not showing their faces,” she told Variety in May 2025. “Rob went rogue and put them in a f—— documentary! I’m still unhappy about that.” McElhenney added that the kids “love[d] it.”

Reyes, who plays Lieutenant Selena Soto, is mom to daughter Leila Rey, who was born in November 2009. Reyes shares Leila with longtime partner, director George Valencia.
Though Reyes keeps her family life largely private, she’s spoken about her hopes for Leila.
“I hope that she has perspective, a good sense of humor, patience, perseverance, and that she really just hangs in there to do what she’s passionate about,” she told Pregnancy Magazine days before her due date in November 2009. “And has a dazzling smile like her mom!”

Howey joins High Potential in season 2 as Captain Jesse Wagner, a charming and politically savvy precinct leader who brings a fresh dynamic to the LAPD team. But off-screen, Howey is a dad to three children, whom he shares with ex-wife Sarah Shahi.
The former couple welcomed their first child, son William Wolf, in 2009, followed by twins Violet Moon and Knox Blue in 2015.
After William’s birth, Shahi and Howey felt far more prepared for their twins.
“It is not easy, but all three are beautiful babies,” he told PEOPLE in January 2016. “We’re a very close-knit family, just bigger.”

Killam, who plays Morgan’s ex-husband Ludo Radovic, is a proud dad to two daughters, Shaelyn and Janita, whom he shares with wife and How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders.
The couple welcomed Shaelyn in 2009 and married in 2012. They later expanded their family with daughter Janita, who was born in 2015.
Smulders, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2005 at 25 years old, has spoken openly about how she was nervous she wouldn’t be able to conceive children. She had multiple surgeries to remove tumors from her ovaries, and within a year of her final procedure, she and Killam learned that they were expecting Shaelyn.
“I ended up keeping a third of one of my ovaries, and through that, was able to have two children naturally. Which, when I say that out loud, I can’t even believe that happened,” she told Coping with Cancer magazine in November 2018. “When I was able to have kids, that was everything. And it still is everything.”

Daniel Sunjata — who plays the LAPD’s Detective Karadec — is a dad to two daughters, Keira and Itasia.
When asked by The New York Times in May 2025 what his phone background is, he shared, “I have one that’s very special to me. It’s me holding my daughters … and kissing them on the cheek.”
