  • A bride was furious when 20 teens and their families crashed her wedding venue to take prom photos using some of her decorations
  • Sharing the story on Reddit, she claimed that the venue manager allowed the group to take photos on-site, despite the bride’s rental contract stating she had “exclusive use of the property for the weekend”
  • “I went full bridezilla,” the bride wrote on Reddit of her reaction to the unexpected photo shoot

A bride says she was in the middle of her weekend wedding celebration when a large group of teens and their families crashed her venue for a prom photo session.

She shared the story in a post on Reddit‘s “Wedding Planning” forum, explaining that she rented a cabin in the woods from Friday evening to Monday morning. “Our contract stated that we had exclusive use of the property for this time,” she noted.

The weekend was going well until Saturday, when the venue was being set up for the ceremony.

“The ceremony was going to be outdoors in a beautiful forest area with a gazebo that we draped with cloth. There was a huge chandelier with old Edison bulbs, we did the aisle up with flowers, everything,” the bride wrote.

But then, just before their rehearsal was supposed to start that afternoon, a series of limos and cars began arriving at the cabin. Twenty teens, along with about 30 family members, then descended on the property. Multiple photographers began snapping photos of the teens, who were dressed up for prom.

“They were taking photos off to the side and then slowly started creeping closer to the decorations. They eventually ended up ON THE ALTAR taking photos, and I went full bridezilla and told them to get away from the decorations we worked so hard on,” the bride recalled. “The parents gave me attitude and said, ‘Let the kids take their pictures!’ ”

The bride said she later discovered that the property manager had texted her an hour before the group arrived, saying, “Have a couple of kids coming to take prom photos on the property for an hour, hope that’s ok!”

“I immediately texted back that it was NOT ok and I had exclusive use of the property for the weekend according to our contract. She left me on read,” the bride wrote.

“No answer to my repeated calls to the venue manager,” she continued, adding, “Cars blocked my guests from getting to the rehearsal dinner, and they had to park all the way at the end of a very long driveway.”

After the incident, the bride said she got “no refund, no apology, no acknowledgment, literally nothing” from the venue.

Reacting to the bride’s story in the comments section, most readers agreed that the venue manager violated the bride’s contract and put her in an unfair position.

“What a frustrating situation! Most times, I think bridezillas are just way overreacting, but in this case, I think you were justified,” one person wrote. “You had a contract and were told you had exclusive use of the place.”

Many also sympathized with the bride for having her wedding weekend interrupted by a group of strangers.

“I would have been livid. Good on you for not backing down!” one person wrote, while another said, “I would have flipped out too and probably would have said, ‘If you want to take pictures at my wedding, you’re going to need to fork over the cash for a photography session.’ I was mad for you reading that story.”
