Stevie Nicks shared a rare letter she sent to her parents while recording Buckingham Nicks alongside Lindsey Buckingham to celebrate the album’s re-release.

Nicks, 77, posted the handwritten note, which was sent on stationery from Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Calif., on Instagram Monday, Sept. 22.

“I wanted to share this letter I wrote to my family while Lindsey and I were making Buckingham Nicks,” the legendary singer-songwriter wrote in the caption. “My mom saved it and it’s been in a drawer for over 50 years.”

In the letter, the “Rhiannon” singer quipped that she was “getting very tired of listening to over 12 hours of music per day” but that she was confident “it will pay off in the end.”

Nicks released the letter in honor of the Friday, Sept. 19, reissue of Buckingham Nicks, the first album for both artists. It was originally released in 1973, a year before she and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac.

“And when I am sitting in my small but luxurious Beverly Hills home overlooking my small but tasteful pool that is totally secluded, where I can sun in the nude and tan my entire fat body while waiting for my plastic surgery leg lift – it will all be worth it,” Knicks humorously added in her letter. “Otherwise, everything here is just ‘peach-y.’ ”

The rock star then added that she hoped her “little family is doing fine and not working too hard” before joking that her father, Jess Nicks, was “already beautifully tan and lythe.”

“How sickening that he looks better than I do at 47(?) and I’m only 25. (Give me a break, Dad!),” she wrote at the time.

“Speaking of being almost 25 – I have decided that we should set aside the entire month of May to celebrate the fact that I am now 1 quarter of a century old. A new landmark like this should not simply be passed over as yet another birthday, but should include a gala celebration. I shall leave it to the three of you to plan it. By the way, presents will be accepted any time after the first of May – no C.O.D’s please,” she wrote of her then upcoming birthday, which falls on May 26.

She then referenced an early cut of what would become the Buckingham Nicks track “Don’t Let Me Down Again,” complimenting Buckingham’s guitar playing skills.

“By the way – Dad and Chris – that rock and roll tune that you both liked (“Baby Baby, don’t treat me so bad”) with the fancy guitar work is almost finished and Lindsey may go down in history as one of ‘greats’ in guitar playing. It really is quite amazing,” she wrote at the time.

Nicks and Buckingham would go on to have a tumultuous relationship. After meeting in high school, the pair began dating in 1972 and split four years later. On New Year’s Eve in 1974, the former couple officially joined Fleetwood Mac, with their later split coinciding with the band’s rise to fame amid the release of their album Rumours.

In the years to come, the pair continued to make music and perform together as exes, alongside bandmates Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and the late Christine McVie.
