Ethan Hawke Doesn’t Think He’ll Be Invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding

Ethan Hawke doubts he’ll make the cut for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s wedding — but he’s okay with potentially not being on the guest list.

While chatting with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of FX’s The Lowdown in New York City on Sept. 17, the actor, 54 — who starred alongside Swift, 35, in her “Fortnight” music video featuring Post Malone last year — shared his reaction to the singer-songwriter and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s engagement, plus his thoughts on their highly-anticipated wedding.

Because Ethan has three daughters — Maya Hawke, 27, with his ex-wife Uma Thurman, as well as Clementine Jane Hawke, 17, and Indiana Hawke, 14, with his wife Ryan Shawhughes — he says that “Taylor Swift is pervasive in our household.” So, his family was celebrating Swift’s engagement just like everyone else when it was announced on Aug. 26.

Ethan, who also shares son Levon Roan Thurman-Hawke, 23, with ex Thurman, recalled being told early on that Swift would be a star.

“When Taylor was about 16 or 17 years old, I was writing a profile on Kris Kristofferson, and I was slightly embarrassed that Maya had a Taylor Swift T-shirt running around the house, and Kris said, ‘That kid is going to be the best American songwriter ever if she stays sober,’ ” Ethan told the outlet with a laugh.

“Good luck to them, I’m happy for them,” he added of Swift and Kelce, 35.

Even though Ethan collaborated with Swift not long ago, he doesn’t think she’ll invite him to her nuptials.

“I don’t think I’m gonna be invited, but I can hope,” he said. “I just want to be invited to a Chiefs game. That’d be fine. I don’t need to go to the whole megillah.”

Back in May 2024 on The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham, Ethan discussed how his surprise appearance in Swift’s “Fortnight” music video that year will be a defining part of his career.

“I thought, as I was flying out there, I thought, you know, I’ve worked so hard in my life, and I have a feeling this will be in my obituary,” he teased at the time, adding, “I might get a few other mentions.”

The Dead Poets Society star then brainstormed what his obituary might look like.

“You might know him as the doctor in the background of the ‘Fortnight’ video, however, he did do some other things with his life,” he quipped.
