Tom Holland Sustains Concussion While Filming ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

Tom Holland was injured on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The actor, 29, sustained a mild concussion while filming on Friday, Sept. 19, per The Hollywood Reporter. Sources told the outlet that Holland will be taking a break from filming for several days to recover.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Holland was taken to a hospital after he fell while filming at Leavesden Studios in Watford, located about 20 miles outside of London.

Holland’s father, Dominic, reportedly told press at a charity dinner on Sunday, Sept. 21, that his son would be away from filming “for a while,” the Daily Mail reported.

A representative for Holland did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Holland’s most recent public appearance came on Saturday, Sept. 20, as he stepped out with fiancée Zendaya, 29, to host a Posh Pub Quiz event with The Brothers Trust, the charity he runs with his three brothers.

The event — which was held at Christie’s auction house in London — supported the charity Java Joy, which aims to provide meaningful employment for adults with disabilities.

Sony Pictures first announced at CinemaCon 2025 in April that the Spider-Man franchise’s next movie would be titled Brand New Day, months after Holland first confirmed that his fourth Spider-Man movie would film in 2025.

Holland and Zendaya — who also stars in the Spider-Man movies — were photographed spending time on the movie’s set in London in early August, and Holland shared a video on Instagram on Aug. 10 showing footage from his first day of filming the anticipated sequel in Scotland.

The actor has been spotted filming around the U.K. several times since then.

Holland has portrayed Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe dating back to 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. The actor has suggested in recent years that he is more heavily involved creatively on the next Spider-Man movie.

Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones in Brand New Day, as are costars Jacob Batalon and Jon FavreauThe Bear‘s Liza Colón-Zayas and Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink will also appear in Brand New Day alongside MCU favorite Mark Ruffalo, as well as Michael Mando and Jon Bernthal, per THR.

Sony Pictures most recently said that the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
