Don’t mistake Infinite Coles‘ new songs for a diss track.

Ghostface Killah‘s son released the songs “SweetFaceKillah” and “Dad & I” on Wednesday, Sept. 17, and there was online speculation that it may have been a diss track about the Wu-Tang Clan member 55.

The songs’ lyrics address their complicated relationship. “How you in a Mack truck, but forget you a father/I be seeing n—– hating, but I don’t even bother/Is it me? Am I not your cup of tea?/Are my pants not low, like your self-esteem?/Do I need to f— a bitch, just so you could see?” he sings in “SweetFaceKillah.”

Along with “SweetFace Killah,” Coles released the song “Dad & I,” which seems a bit more direct. “You never talk to me, said I’m not living right/ You tell me to man up, yea/ When I put on makeup, yea,” he sings, seemingly addressing his father, whose real name is Dennis Coles.

“You always asked for change but wouldn’t do your part/ Nobody’s perfect, no/ Can’t you see that I’m worth it?”

However, the song is not a diss track. Coles replied to a fan’s comment on X on Friday, Sept. 19, clarifying his intentions. “Ghostface Killah’s son Infinite Coles disses him in new track 👀,” the fan wrote. “NOT A DISS !!! But thank you so much ✨,” Coles responded.

Coles viewed his new songs as an opportunity to tell his “side of the story.” “It’s very positive and about nothing but love. I have no hate towards my father at all,” he told VIBE in an article published on Sept. 16 about “Dad & I.”

“I love my father, I just wish we could connect and understand one another and respect each other. I haven’t seen my father in over 10 years. I always wonder if he’s okay. I wonder if we will be able to mend or have a conversation before one of our time is up. I just always wonder.”

“So this song is just me pouring out the last bit of fight I have in me for him to reach out,” added Coles.

In March 2017, Coles alluded to dodging being only known as a Wu-Tang Clan member’s child. “People work so hard to be where they want to be,” he told NYLON. “My hard work was to accept myself. And once that happened, [opportunities] started coming to me.”

Years later, Coles called out Ghostface Killah in a May 2023 Instagram post in an attempt to contact him while also claiming that he was a “deadbeat” father, claiming that he had not seen him in over 10 years.

“My heart has been aching and longing to be love[d] by you, MY FATHER for way too long. So since you are unreachable, perhaps this will get your attention,” he wrote in part.

Infinite Coles also told VIBE what he hopes fans will get out of SweetFaceKillah.

“With this album, I plan to really take off. I feel like it’s my time — something beautiful is headed my way. I feel like I stand out from lots of other artists, especially in my community, because I’m talking about things that I never hear anyone talk about.”

He continued, “People just wanna make a quick hit, but never tell us what’s really going on inside their hearts. And I just feel like if no one will, then I will.”

He also noted that the album’s name, SweetFace Killah, came from the names fans were calling him in his DMs. “I was depressed at first, but then I was like, wait — they kinda ate that. So now that’s my album name.”

Among other tracks on the upcoming album are “DMs,” “Shoot, “Mama Song,” “Thankful” and “Body Strong.”

SweetFaceKillah, available on Dec. 5, is available to preorder.
