My Mom and I Are 5-Feet Tall and Both Love These $20 Leggings
My mom and I are best friends. (Cue the awws.) In addition to talking multiple times a day, sharing about 98 percent of our interests and hobbies, and taking mother-daughter trips around the globe, we share a deep love of wearing leggings. Since we’re both 5 feet tall, though — well, 4 feet 11 and three-quarters in my case, and 5-foot-1 in hers — finding leggings that actually fit our shorter legs can be a challenge. But we’ve done the legwork (pun intended) and found a brand with multiple pairs we can’t stop wearing.
While scrolling through Amazon last year, I discovered the $20 Felina Velvety Super Soft Lightweight Leggings with a 28-inch inseam. I immediately ordered a pair, waiting with trepidation for them to arrive. Not only did I fall in love with these leggings, but I’m now obsessed with multiple styles from the brand. And, as soon as I told my mom how perfectly they fit, she hopped on the bandwagon and ordered some for herself, too.

Much to our delight, we’ve continued to wear our Felina leggings throughout this past year on cross-country flights, to Pilates class, out to dinner, and during morning walks. Below, get a closer look at the three pairs of Felina leggings my mom and I can’t live without, starting at just $20 on Amazon.

These are the leggings that started it all. I was actually in search of leggings to replace my longtime favorites from a more expensive brand, as they changed the fit a couple years ago. I’m excited to announce that these leggings are everything I hoped for — in fact, they’re almost exactly the same, but at a fraction of the price. They’re designed in a soft, stretchy jersey with a pull-on silhouette and mid-rise waistband. The length hits right at my ankles, so I can wear them with everything from sneakers to ballet flats to strappy heels. I especially love this style for long flights or casual workdays, since they conform to my body without digging into my stomach or hips. They come in sizes XS–3X, and I’ve found that size L works well for my curvier frame.
While I’ll laud these leggings until the end of time, I’m certainly not alone. A fellow petite shopper said they’re the “perfect” length, adding that they’re “great for long sweaters or dresses.” Other happy shoppers said they “look the same even after several washes,” and they’re “buttery soft.” To all of that, I say a very enthusiastic, “Yes.”
Felina Cotton Modal Capri Leggings
Amazon
As long as it’s above 65 degrees Fahrenheit, you’ll find me in a pair of capri leggings. I’ve grown especially fond of this style for my Pilates classes and morning walks — the blend of cotton and modal is super comfy and breathable, while the legs and waist stay in place throughout a variety of movements. They come in sizes XS–XL, and I vary between the L and XL, though I honestly haven’t found much difference between the two. While I prefer black, they also come in light gray, white, navy, and grayish-blue.
What I love the most, though, is the length, since they hit right at my calves. A 5-foot-3 shopper loved them as much as I do, calling them “so comfy and stretchy” even throughout pregnancy, while another reviewer said they’re “perfect for under skirts [and] dresses.”

I never knew that leggings could actually take the place of pants — until I slipped on this style, that is. They’re designed in stretchy spandex that’s slightly thicker than my other two favorite styles, so they look more like a pair of dress pants. I love the slightly higher waist and wide waistband, which creates a subtly compressive and slimming effect on my curves. But my favorite part is definitely the length; the hems stop right above my ankles, so I can easily pair them with flat sandals, heels, booties, or sneakers. I tend to wear these leggings when I go out for dinner or drinks with friends, typically pairing them with a billowy tank or blouse. They come in a variety of colors and patterns and sizes XS–2X.
In case my raves aren’t enough, I rounded up a handful of reviews from satisfied shoppers, too. “They are the first pair I’ve come across where I don’t have to pull them up all day,” said a 5-foot-2 shopper who wears a size 14. Another reviewer, who owns these leggings in three colors, said they’re “soft and comfortable.” And a third shopper who owns two pairs said they “wear them at the gym, but also with big sweaters and even under dresses in the winter.”
Do yourself a favor and grab a pair (or three) of Felina leggings from Amazon before the fall and winter chill sets in.
