A “disgusted” woman is airing out her roommate’s dirty laundry.
The woman sparked an online debate on Reddit’s “Am I the A——?” forum after she confessed that she thinks her roommate’s habit of washing their kitchen and bathroom towels together is “disgusting and nonsensical.”
“I am disgusted that my flat mate thinks it’s okay to bring what was once the bathroom floor mat into the kitchen even though it was washed,” she wrote, before describing the towel’s previous and current uses.
“The towel has been on the floor for weeks, absorbing poop and pee smell and particles, nasty shoes have been on that towel,” the concerned woman continued. “I’ve seen hair all over the towel and they think just because they threw that towel in the wash it’s okay for it to be in the kitchen to be used to dry their dishes and used while cooking.”

The woman and her roommate share their home with one other person.
“Me and my other flat mate feel really uncomfortable about the bathroom floor towel being in the kitchen,” she said. “We feel as though it is very unhygienic because the kitchen is where we prepare our food and now something that was once in the bathroom is in the kitchen.”
To remedy the situation, they had an “intervention” with the roommate.
“They think we are policing what they can and can’t do with their towels,” she recalled, before asking, “Am I the a—— for telling my flat mate to keep their bathroom and kitchen towels separate?”

Most Redditors disagreed with the woman who posted the question, with one person suggesting, “Why don’t you buy a proper thick bath mat that can’t be used as a towel if it’s bothering you that much.”
Another person answered “not the a——” regarding the situation.
“I’d personally never eat off a plate dried with a towel that was on the bathroom floor even if it’s washed,” the Redditor replied. “You’re just asking for basic hygiene rules in shared areas. If they can’t respect that, maybe suggest keeping personal towels separate entirely, out of shared spaces.”
