Marlon Wayans Shares His Main Gripe with Making a ‘White Chicks’ Sequel

Marlon Wayans isn’t interested in a White Chicks sequel.
While appearing on Kai Cenat‘s Mafiathon 3 stream, Wayans was asked about returning to the zany 2004 comedy for a second look.
“Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to happen,” he laughed, explaining it took seven hours each day to transform him into his character, an FBI agent posing as a white socialite at a swanky event after a series of mishaps with his brother and partner (Shawn Wayans).
“Seven hours in makeup every day, and then we work 14 hours after the seven hours because we produced a movie. If you’re gonna produce the movie, you gotta push your call time, so that means you have no turnaround. Turnaround is usually 12 hours,” he explained.
“We only got 3 hours every night, so after work, we were still there. Taking the makeup off, that took an hour.”

The grueling process made the movie happen, and while Wayans has no regrets, he also has no desire to do it all over again.
That said, Wayans does recognize where White Chicks stands in his film history. During a 2022 interview with BuzzFeed, Wayans, 50, said that films like his 2004 comedy White Chicks are “needed” when asked whether the film could thrive in today’s pop culture environment.
“I don’t know what planet we’re on, where you think people don’t need laughter, and that people need to be censored and canceled,” Wayans told BuzzFeed. “If a joke is gonna get me canceled, thank you for doing me that favor.”

In reaction to the idea of cancel culture, the writer and actor told the outlet that he finds it “sad that society is in this place where we can’t laugh anymore.”
“I ain’t listening to this damn generation. I ain’t listening to these folks: These scared-a– people, these scared executives,” Wayans added.
“Y’all do what you want to do? Great. I’m still gonna tell my jokes the way I tell them. And if you want to make some money, jump on board. And if not, then I’ll find a way to do it myself.”
