Louis Partridge Opens Up About His Relationship with Olivia Rodrigo

Louis Partridge is opening up about his relationship with Olivia Rodrigo.

In a new interview with Esquire UK, published on Thursday, Sept. 18, the 22-year-old actor addressed the reaction to the couple’s not-so-low-profile outing to Wimbledon on July 2, when they sat together in coordinating outfits — and were spotted kissing — in the Royal Box at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

Partridge told the magazine that he was not prepared for all of the attention their tennis outing brought.

“I was not aware that was going to be a thing,” he said. “I did see a lot of photos from that, [and] it felt quite public.”

“Olivia and I choose, or have been choosing, to not be so public,” he continued. “Obviously, it has been quite a big summer for her with Glastonbury, but there’s a sanctity to being private.”

Days before stepping out to Wimbledon, Rodrigo, also 22, performed a headlining set at Glastonbury Festival on June 29, and Partridge watched from the wings.

“It was a really special moment,” the Enola Holmes star told Esquire UK. “And she worked so incredibly hard for it. And it all came together. It was pretty damn special to be there and see her get her flowers, as it were.”

When it comes to dating in the spotlight, Partridge told the outlet that it helps that he and Rodrigo are both celebrities and aware of all that comes with their fame.

“I think [it helps], yeah, to not blow it out of proportion or not have to explain it or have someone understand it,” he said. “I just have no doubt that we’re both in a relationship for the right reason, for example. I’m sure that’s something you have to think about when you reach a certain level of success.”

He added: “It’s nice to know that we can go to things together, and it’s not the maddest thing in the world that you’re sitting opposite who knows what. You’ve got a friend in those times.”

Speaking with Variety for an interview published on Sept. 12, Partridge said he’s “very happy” in his relationship with the “Driver’s License” singer. “I think she is too, so all is good in our world,” he added.

Partridge and Rodrigo first sparked dating rumors in October 2023 and later confirmed their romance that December, when they were photographed kissing in New York City.

The actor shared a rare Instagram post about his popstar girlfriend on June 30 to praise her Glastonbury performance.

“I hope you caught Olivia’s show last night. A truly special performance on such a huge scale,” Partridge wrote. “She worked her ass off for it and couldn’t be more deserving of all her success and for the great crowd that was watching. What a moment.”
