- Tyson Foods has announced plans to remove corn syrup from the ingredient list for some of its most popular products
- The Tyson-owned brands impacted by the change include Jimmy Dean and Hillshire Farms
- The changes are expected to go into effect by the end of 2025
Tyson Foods, the company behind some of the most recognizable brands in the supermarket, is dropping high fructose corn syrup — and other added sweeteners — from its product line-up by the end of 2025.
The Arkansas-based food company announced the shift in a press release on Monday, Sept. 15, also sharing that it would stop using the artificial sweetener sucralose by the end of the year.
“Our decision to remove high fructose corn syrup and other ingredients reflects our ongoing commitment to feeding the world like family, while preserving the taste, value, and integrity that define our iconic brands,” said Donnie King, President and CEO of Tyson Foods in a statement.

Though Tyson did not release a full list of products that would be impacted by the changes, the company did share that all of its brands, which include Aidells, Hillshire Farms, Wright, and Jimmy Dean, would be making the change.

High fructose corn syrup has long been a controversial ingredient. According to the Cleveland Clinic, consuming too much of the sweetener can cause weight gain and inflammation, along with being “full of empty calories.” The USDA’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that everyone limit the consumption of added sugars, including high fructose corn syrup.
In addition to removing sucralose and high-fructose corn syrup from its products, Tyson also announced that it would discontinue the use of titanium dioxide, an FDA-approved coloring agent, and BHA/BHT, a preservative. The decision comes on the heels of a move earlier this year from Tyson Foods away from “petroleum-based, synthetic dyes.”
Tyson is one of many food companies making major changes to their products right now, in light of Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s criticism of sugar consumption, food dyes and other additives.
In April, RFK Jr. called sugar “poison” and recommended that Americans eat “zero” added sugar in their food, per The Guardian.

President Donald Trump has also been critical of the use of corn syrup. In July, the president posted to Truth Social that he had been successful in convincing Coca-Cola to make its sodas with “real cane sugar.” The company later confirmed that it would release a cane-sugar-based product in late 2025.
