Bob the Drag Queen is taking center stage on Broadway.

The comedian, actor, podcast host and New York Times best-selling author will make his Broadway debut next year as master of ceremonies Harold Zidler in the Tony Award-winning Moulin Rouge! The Musical, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.

“Being on Broadway has always been a dream of mine,” Bob (known as Caldwell Tidicue out of drag) says in a statement. “I moved to NYC almost 17 years ago to pursue it. Some roads take a while.”

Fans can catch Bob in the role beginning Jan. 27, 2026, for an eight-week limited engagement at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. His run will continue through March 22, 2026.

Zidler has been played by a string of stars, starting with Broadway legend Danny Burstein, who won his first Tony after six previous acting nominations. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt favorite Tituss Burgess and Culture Club singer Boy George have also entertained audiences in the part.

Currently, Wayne Brady is playing Harold Zidler through Nov. 9. After he departs the production, Robert Petkoff — who performs the role on the show’s national tour — will appear on Broadway from Nov. 11 to Jan. 25, 2026.

Best known to fans as the season 8 winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bob has built a career spanning TV, comedy, music and literature.

He was a breakout in season 3 of The Traitors and helped lead HBO’s Emmy-nominated series We’re Here (which has earned a Peabody, a GLAAD Media Award and Television Academy Honors), He’s also the co-host of the award-winning podcast Sibling Rivalry with fellow drag star (and newly engaged) Monét X Change.

Onstage, Bob tours internationally as a stand-up comic also recently served as emcee for Madonna’s Celebration Tour. He released his debut EP Gay Barz and comedy special, Woke Man in a Dress. His first book, Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert, debuted as a New York Times best seller earlier this year.

Based on Baz Luhrmann‘s 2001 movie of the same nameMoulin Rouge! The Musical follows an American man in Paris at the turn of the 20th century, Christian, who falls in love with a performer at the titular cabaret club named Satine. The original movie starred Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in the lead roles.

The musical has been playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre since 2019; it reopened in the same location in 2021 after a prolonged shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Like the film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical features a mashup of popular hits, spanning over 160 years of music — from Offenbach to Lady Gaga. Many of the iconic songs from the movie and also included.

The show won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
