Baker Mayfield’s response after fiery CJ Gardner-Johnson moment
Baker Mayfield had a strong message for teams trying to clown him and the Buccaneers.
The internet was abuzz on Monday night after the Tampa Bay signal-caller was tackled and popped up to start chirping with Texans safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
The third-quarter play caught people’s attention as Mayfield was clutching his left leg after getting caught down by Will Anderson Jr. from behind.
But Mayfield jumped back up to get in Gardner-Johnson’s face and then helped lead the Bucs to a 20-19 win on “Monday Night Football.”
“We don’t take any s–t. That’s about it,” Mayfield told reporters Wednesday.
Mayfield added that he felt “great” after taking several big hits in the win over the Texans and that his leg was “good,” even as he wore a compression sleeve on it when he spoke with reporters.
He was listed on the team’s injury report with a foot/toe injury, though ESPN reported that he was a full participant in Tampa’s walk-through.

Mayfield had a bit of fun with the Monday moment, posting images of his verbal jousting match with Gardner-Johnson on Instagram with the caption: “Built different. 10 toes down.”
It drew a response out of Gardner-Johnson, who won a Super Bowl last year with the Eagles.
“Boy this cute but still ringless,” he wrote in the comments of the Instagram post.
The Buccaneers will host the Jets this weekend as they look to go 3-0.
Mayfield is in his third year with the Buccaneers and has completed 42 of his 72 pass attempts for 382 yards and five touchdowns through the first two games.
