The Movie’ Info, Pilot Parallels, A Full Moon, And More

Prime Video’s hit series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, has finally come to an end, and while I’m thrilled that fans finally have Belly’s long-awaited endgame secured and we’re getting TSITP: The Movie (!!!), I’m also genuinely sad that we won’t be gathering in front of our TV screens every Wednesday to collectively yearn, cry, scream, and — crucially — scour the series for Easter eggs that may or may not be real!

Spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 11 ahead.

The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s Season 3/series finale, “At Last,” brought Jenny Han’s beloved brother love triangle drama to a close. If you’re looking for a detailed Season 3, Episode 11 play-by-play, Decider’s got you covered! Otherwise, here are the main bullet points before we embark on our final Easter egg hunt of the season: Chef Jeremiah and Denise finally kissed! Steven and Taylor are moving to San Francisco together! And Belly and Conrad confessed their love for each other in Paris, finally got back together, and eventually returned to Cousins together and ended the series at the beach house!

Since The Summer I Turned Pretty is such a thoughtfully-crafted love letter to fans, each week since Season 3’s July 16 premiere, Decider’s taken a closer look at each episode and highlighted five moments that deserved to be put under the microscope. Whether they were blink-and-miss-it details, brilliant Easter eggs, or major scenes that need to be talked through in greater depth, we wanted to obsess over, hypothesize, and dissect the series alongside you. We also shouted out a standout needle drop each episode, since the show’s soundtrack absolutely slaps.

Since “At Last” marked the final installment in the series, there as wasn’t much to tease via Easter eggs, but Jenny still gave fans some quality parallels to episodes past, infinity references, a TSITP: The Movie announcement, and more exciting treats! So without further ado, here are five things you may have missed in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Episode 11, “At Last.”

  1. “At Last”

By now, The Summer I Turned Pretty fans who’ve been shipping Belly and Conrad since Season 1 have almost certainly picked up on the significance of Season 3, Episode 11’s title, “At Last,” but for those who missed the connection, “At Last” by Etta James was the song that Belly and Conrad danced to (looking like husband and wife, may I add!) in Season 1 finale’s debutante ball scene. Even back then, Jenny was planting the seeds for TSITP‘s on-screen endgame, and when she commented “AT LAST!” on a Season 3 promo post, fans were hopeful the words were hinting at the finale title, considering each episode included the word “Last.”

  2. Belly And Conrad Parallels Galore

TSITP‘s parallel’s are sprinkled throughout Season 3’s 11 episodes, but the finale featured some truly noteworthy callbacks to Belly and Conrad scenes past. The greatest, by far and without a single doubt, comes when the two share an intimate, ridiculously sexy moment at Belly’s birthday party. When Belly starts smoking in front of Conrad, says, “I thought you said marijuana messes with white matter,” a reference to their Season 1, Episode 1 pool scene, when he smoked in front of Belly and she challenged him to stop. “Do you memorize every little thing I’ve ever said?” Belly replies, in another direct nod to his “God, do you memorize every single thing that I’ve ever said” line from the pilot. HELP!

Throughout TSITP‘s final installment, there are a number of other callbacks — from Belly messing up Conrad’s hair like he messed hers up in Season 1, to Conrad name-dropping “exile” (the titled of the Taylor Swift song that played during his Season 2 finale crashout), Belly recreating her head out the car window scene when returning to Cousins, a special Conrad birthday wish, and more. Which parallels were your favorites?

  3. A Full Moon Foreshadowing The Fan-Favorite Valentine’s Day Scene

In our Season 3, Episode 8 Easter eggs recap, we noted how Chapter 56’s Valentine’s Day flashback was on the long list of highly-anticipated Book 3 scenes fans have been hoping to see on screen. Sadly, the flashback didn’t appear in the series finale. But now that we know TSITP: The Movie is coming (more on this later!) we have renewed hope that a scene from the Season 3 finale is foreshadowing the Valentine’s Day flashback’s inclusion in the film. Without spoiling all the delightful details of the scene, Conrad surprised Belly one Valentine’s Day when she was 16 and he was 18, and the two spent a romantic night gazing up at the moon together. The moon that night was full, which, as you can imagine, made them feel *infinite.* And in one of the book’s most memorable lines, Belly explained, “He gave me the moon and the stars. Infinity.” The night sky — and looking up at the moon — holds a special significance in their relationship, so in the Season 3 finale, when Belly said, “There’s a full moon tonight” and Conrad replied, “I like being under the same moon as you again,” it got me all giddy because clearly they (and Miss Jenny Han) haven’t forgotten the power of that full moon.

  4. Goodbye, Numerology

Since we’ve examined everything from times on clocks to gate numbers this season, we feel it’s our civic duty to put our Taylor Swift thinking caps on and explore the numerology potential in Season 3, Episode 11. Was it ever real? Were we just being delusional? We may never know, but two standout number-heavy moments in the series finale point to Belly and Conrad endgame, so if believing Jenny Han laid these TSITP Easter eggs for us is wrong, we don’t want to be right! When Belly checks her phone after sleeping with Conrad, the time is 4:04 a.m. and we all know that 4+4 = 8, aka infinity! Then, when Belly races to the train station to catch Conrad, she sees the train to Brussels has 5hr21 beside it, and we all know that 5+2+1 = 8, aka INFINITY! We’ll miss overanalyzing numbers on TV, though after seeing an 88 on The Morning Show last week and thinking “I wonder if Jenny Han did that,” I fear my brain will simply work this way for the rest of time.

  5. “Christmas In Paris” And What To Expect From TSITP: The Movie

The SECOND we saw TSITP finale’s “Christmas in Paris” end credits scene we knew there was more story on the way, and hours later, TSITP: The Movie was announced! While story details are still under wraps, if you haven’t read TSITP books and want to know which scenes have yet to be adapted on screen in the series, and thus, will likely be explored in the movie, we’ve got you covered! Considering Belly is wearing the same red PJs she had on in her crucial Christmas in Cousins flashback with Conrad, we have high hopes that TSITP: The Movie will get us in the Christmas spirit again before giving their story the closure it deserves. Based on the finale loose ends and We’ll Always Have Summer‘s epilogue, there’s lots left to tie up, so we’re eternally grateful that Jenny is keeping the story going!

Episode 11’s Winning Needle Drop: “Dress” by Taylor Swift

TSITP S3 Ep11 they kiss

TSITP‘s series finale did NOT disappoint in the needle drop department, but “Dress” by Taylor Swift (potentially Taylor’s Version?!) serving as the soundtrack to Belly and Conrad’s long-awaited kiss and then THAT sex scene may have permanently altered by brain chemistry. We already went long on TSITP Season 3, Episode 11’s sexiest scenes, including the moment during “Dress” when the music perfectly cuts out so Conrad can talk. So be sure to catch up on that and the rest of Decider’s TSTIP Season 3 coverage while we anxiously await TSITP: The Movie details.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Seasons 1 through 3 are now streaming on Prime Video.
