Rosie Perez Tells ‘Today’s Jenna Bush Hager She Can’t Dance Like She Used To In ‘Do The Right Thing’: “If I Did That Right Now, I Would Be In Surgery”

Rosie Perez had a hilarious reaction on Today With Jenna & Friends while watching a clip from her iconic movie, Do The Right Thing.

Jenna Bush Hager and Perez were looking back at the Spike Lee film that kicked off her decades-long career during Wednesday’s broadcast when they shared a clip of Perez dancing in the film.

“Oh my god! If I did that now, I would be in surgery,” she said. “Look at that!”

Bush Hager then asked Perez if she still enjoyed acting as much as she did then.

“I love it even more honestly,” she said. “I love it even more. I just want to act all the time. I learned to get out of my own way, I learned to embrace all the nervousness and just really work on my craft. And it’s great that I can pick projects now.”

Later in the broadcast, Perez couldn’t hold back her reaction when the show shared photos of her accepting the Leadership Award from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.

As she recounted how “surprised” she was to receive the award, Perez caught sight of the images of her accepting it on stage.

“Oh my god, look at me!” she exclaimed.

As Bush Hager told the actress that she looked “gorgeous,” Perez continued in shock, “No, I look so plump! What the hell is going on? You can’t even see my waist!”

Her reaction elicited laughs as she continued disagreeing with Bush Hager, who insisted, “No, that’s a bad angle! That is not what you look like!”

Perez is the latest guest host to join Bush Hager on Today With Jenna & Friends. She will return on Friday (Sept. 19) to host, but NBC correspondent Tom Llamas will be joining Bush Hager for Thursday’s broadcast.
