An Ohio woman is under arrest after authorities issued an Amber Alert for her 7-year-old son — whom she was allegedly seen torturing in an Instagram video.
Tiarika Baymon, 32, was arrested near Ross Township, Penn., following a manhunt on Sunday, Sept. 14, after the FBI notified local authorities that her son was in possible danger.
The son was rescued from a vehicle Baymon was driving, and taken to a medical facility to be treated.
Brunswick police in Ohio said on Sunday, Sept. 14, that the Amber Alert for the child was cancelled.
The department said they were notified by the FBI that Baymon was “possibly causing harm to her 7 year old son.”
Ross Township Deputy Chief Brian Kohlhepp said authorities believed the child to be “in life-threatening danger” after allegedly being taken by Baymon, WECT and WTAE reported.
“They had evidence to include an Instagram video that she had bound him and had tortured him,” Kohlhepp said.
Investigators tracked Baymon to Ross Township where she was found in a car asleep, allegedly with a gun in her lap, police said, according to WTAE, WECT and WKYC.
The child was in the backseat and appeared to be in distress, per WECT.
“They had to reach in and forcibly remove her from the car,” Kohlhepp alleged, per WECT. “She didn’t suffer any injuries as a part of that, and the gun actually fell out onto the ground during that exchange.”
The child had been subject to severe abuse and had traumatic injuries, according to an arrest warrant cited by WTAE.
He possibly suffered broken bones and other injuries, including marks on his wrists, police said, per WKYC and WTAE.
Upon his rescue, the child allegedly told investigators that Baymon hit him in the face with a glass bottle, WTAE and WECT reported, citing court documents.
Baymon allegedly restrained him with belts or exercise straps, the child told authorities.
