Michael Feinstein asks $4.49M for his Hollywood Hills home

Cabaret legend Michael Feinstein, who has long been known for preserving and reviving the Great American Songbook, and his husband Terrence Flannery, are listing their West Hollywood Hills home for $4.49 million — almost double what they paid for it last year.

They bought the 1936 Spanish-style villa for $2.72 million in 2024, as Gimme Shelter previously reported.

Extensive renovations ensued.

“We love the house, its spectacular views and made it a home people cherish. We renovated every square foot of it and are using it more than we expected,” Feinstein told Gimme Shelter, adding that the couple also use it to host celebrity house guests, and as a green room and studio space for concert and recording projects.

But they soon realized they needed something larger to suit their entertaining needs.

“We find ourselves needing more space as our circle of friends and family continue to spend more time with us. We also are spending more time on the West Side because of our production and business projects,” he added.

The couple is currently house hunting in Beverly Hills, sources said.

That’s where Feinstein spent several years working with Ira Gershwin on Roxbury Drive, as he previously told Gimme.

Feinstein, who will be performing at Carnegie Hall in November, can currently be seen on a streaming special, “Because of You: My Tribute to Tony Bennett.”

The Great American Songbook refers to American classics from the first half of the 20th century, including George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter. But the legacy continues to evolve, Feinstein has said.

This four-bedroom, four-bath home is 3,623 square feet. It sits on just 0.12 acres perched above Sunset Boulevard, with stunning city views.

The home opens to a large foyer with hardwood floors and natural light. It leads to a large, step-down living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a lounge area with a wet bar and a chef’s kitchen that opens to a side patio and garden.

A dramatic staircase heads upstairs, where a main bedroom suite features a fireplace, two walk-in closets and two baths — along with additional guest bedrooms.

The basement level features a gym, a laundry room and lots of storage.

The couple maintain an extensive real estate portfolio, which includes homes on Central Park South, as well as a Carmel, Indiana property near the Great American Songbook Foundation. Their primary residence is an estate in Pasadena that is often featured in film and TV programs such as “Glee.” Their other trophy property is a 50-acre avocado ranch with ocean views in Carpenteria.

The couple sold a large Upper East Side townhouse on East 63rd Street for $15.2 million in 2018.

The listing broker of the Hollywood Hills property is Idan Gould, of Douglas Elliman.
