Josh Allen to make this equipment switch to protect broken nose

It’s going to take a lot more than a bloody nose to keep the reigning MVP off the field.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is likely to wear a clear visor during the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Miami Dolphins on “Thursday Night Football” — an added precaution after snapping his nose in the Bills’ 30-10 win over the New York Jets on Sunday.

“Yeah, we’ll see. We’ll probably wear it in the game, just trying to get used to it,” Allen said at Tuesday’s practice, where he debuted the visor.

Allen, 29, fell on his face late in the first quarter at MetLife Stadium and immediately rushed off to the sidelines as his nose gushed blood.

He missed all of two plays before he was back on the field, completing 14 of 25 passes for 148 yards before the starters were pulled with the game out of reach.

His nose was black, blue, and bloated after the game, but Allen explained that he was still able to “breathe, so it’s good.”

“Yeah, his nose didn’t get any bigger, I don’t think,” coach Sean McDermott joked Monday. “It’s always looked good to me. I think it still looks good. I think we’re in a good spot.”

The swelling has gone down in the days since, and although he’s still a bit bruised, Allen — whose 107 consecutive starts mark the longest active streak among quarterbacks — is fully expected to be good to go moving forward.

The quarterback has practiced in visors every now and then throughout his career, but Thursday will mark his first time rocking one in an NFL game.

Detailing Allen’s swollen nose Monday, right tackle Spencer Brown joked that he currently resembles a defensive end.

The quarterback had some jokes of his own, adding that he’s “the third Bosa brother in the league,” referring to Bills defensive end Joey Bosa and 49ers star Nick Bosa.

Allen has led the Bills to a 2-0 start, including a miraculous 41-40 comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 where he threw for 250-plus yards and three touchdowns in the fourth quarter alone.
