Demi Lovato reacts to former best friend Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco’s engagement
Look at Demi Lovato’s ex-BFF now.
The “Heart Attack” singer praised Selena Gomez during her “Watch What Happens Live” appearance Tuesday, saying she “couldn’t be happier” for her former pal’s engagement to Benny Blanco.
“I just wish her the best,” Lovato, 33, gushed.
The “Camp Rock” star noted that she was a fan of Gomez and Blanco’s joint “I Said I Love You First” album, which came out in March.
“Really, really great job. I love the songs on it,” Lovato told viewers, specifically highlighting “Bluest Flame.”
Gomez, 33, and the record producer, 37, got engaged in December 2024.
When the bride-to-be showed off her ring via Instagram at the time and told her followers that “forever begins now,” Lovato “liked” the post.
The “Sonny With a Chance” alum has known Gomez since 2002 when the actresses co-starred on “Barney & Friends.”
Although the duo remained close during their Disney days, they appeared to have a falling out — which Lovato confirmed in a 2020 Harper’s Bazaar interview.
“I’m not friends with her,” the former “X Factor” judge told the magazine.
However, Lovato quickly clarified, “When you grow up with somebody, you’re always going to have love for them. … I will always have love for her, and I wish everybody nothing but the best.”
She noted that Miley Cyrus is the “only [person] from that era” that she remained in contact with.
Gomez, for her part, is currently best friends with Taylor Swift, who jokingly wrote via Instagram last year that “yes, [she] will be the flower girl” in the “Only Murders in the Building” star’s wedding to Blanco.
The couple will reportedly tie the knot later this month despite playing coy about their wedding planning in multiple interviews.
“We honestly haven’t even figured anything [out]. We’ve been moving so quickly,” Blanco said in a March “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” interview. “Do you think we have time to figure out our marriage plans?”
On the “Therapuss” podcast four months later, he claimed, “We haven’t even had time to get into it, but we’re excited. I think this summer, we’re going to sit down and be like, ‘OK, what are we doing?’”
As for Lovato, she married Jutes in California in May.
She and the musician, 34, got engaged in December 2023, with the “speechless” songwriter sharing proposal pictures via Instagram.
“Every day I’ve spent with you has been a dream come true and I can’t wait to love and cherish you forever,” Lovato wrote at the time. “Here’s to the rest of our lives.”
