Aziz Ansari has a lot of love for his Parks and Recreation family.

The actor appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, Sept. 7 in support of his feature-length directorial debut, Good Fortune. While chatting with Entertainment Weekly, Ansari, 42, was asked about the possibility of revisiting Pawnee and said, “Oh man, if I get to spend time with Jim [O’Heir], I would love to do it.”

“I would love to spend time with anybody from Parks — even if the show was terrible, and we just got a decent enough check, but we got to spend time together,” Ansari, who played Tom Haverford for the run of the series, joked. “I might just be up for it.”

He added, “I love those people so much. And every now and then, I get to see him.”

The series, which ran for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015, followed the chronically underfunded and underperforming Parks and Recreation Department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Ind.

Adam Scott, who played Ben Wyatt, recently told the outlet that he thought Ansari’s character as well as O’Heir‘s Jerry Gergich would be the most interesting characters to revisit in a follow-up project.

In 2022, Amy Poehler, who led the NBC sitcom as Leslie Knope, shared interest in doing a Parks and Rec reboot. At the premiere of Russian Doll’s second season, Poehler told PEOPLE that “anytime anybody gives me the word, and I’m down.”

Since the show ended, several cast members went on to find lasting success: Aubrey Plaza appeared in season 2 of HBO’s hit show The White Lotus and the Marvel series Agatha All Along while Scott, 52, currently stars in the Emmy-winning series Severance on Apple TV+.

Amid their busy schedules, the Parks and Recreation alums stay in touch via group chat, known to the cast as “Parks Family Text.” O’Heir told NPR’s Book of the Day that “to this day, [we] are good friends, and we love each other.”
