Unfortunately, for fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the seemingly endless days in Cousins are officially over.
The television adaption of Jenny Han‘s popular young adult trilogy, which centers the love triangle between Lola Tung‘s Isabel “Belly” Conklin and the Fisher brothers (Christopher Briney as Conrad and Gavin Casalegno as Jeremiah), aired its last episode on Wednesday, Sept. 17. This was supposed to mark the end of an era for devoted viewers, but it was announced hours after the finale dropped that the saga will return for a film with Tung and Briney reprising their roles.
Following the ups and downs of Belly’s romance with the Fisher brothers has been a roller-coaster ride with tons of twists, turns and loop-the-loops. Whether fans of the hit series read the books or are just enjoying the book-to-show adaption, one thing remains true: No one is prepared for what happens during the finale.
Let’s break down the final episode, titled “At Last,” as we (temporarily) say goodbye to the Cousins summer house, as well as the Conklin and Fisher families.

Here are 57 things we absolutely need to talk about after the The Summer I Turned Pretty series finale:
1. I don’t know how they are going to fit everything that needs to happen (i.e. Belly and Conrad’s reconnection) in one hour and 19 minutes, but I’m here for the ride!
2. Oh gosh, Conrad’s going to see her on the bike with Benito (Fernando Cattori) and start crashing out. The main problem with them — and every relationship in the show really — has always been communication.
3. Can we get into this short cut? Belly looks so mature with this hairstyle. The hair change is indicative of Emily in Paris season 3 when Lily Collins’ Emily Cooper debuted her famous bangs.
4. Look at Conrad seconds away from crashing out. We don’t have time for this back and forth Connie! Time is of the essence. Tell her you love her!
5. This first interaction is very … awkward. Belly did not want to see either of the Fisher boys in Paris clearly.
Prime Video
6. Just kidding, I see it in her eyes and in her panic. All the her feelings for Conrad are rushing back.
7. I’m just going to say it now: I don’t like Jeremiah and Denise (Isabella Briggs). More chemistry than him and Belly, but I’m not 100 percent on board with these two.
8. Wait… Steven (Sean Kaufman) and Denise are moving to California? What does this mean for Taylor (Rain Spencer) and Steven?
9. Well, I guess time is of the essence because the secret of the move is already out of the bag now. Being that a major problem for everyone is communication, I hope Taylor just ends up talking to Steven. They have grown too much as a couple to break up.
10. And, we are back to the main event! Conrad flew too far to waste precious moments seeing all these tourist locations. I’m begging to see some of the infamous Conrad charm!
11. I am obsessed with the way Conrad is literally stealing all of these looks at Belly while they are exploring Paris, but these flashbacks to who she once was are scaring me a little. He needs to see her for who she is now and not who she was before. With Han teasing that the fans won’t expect what’s happening for the finale, I’m actually scared that they won’t end up together.
12. Key word for the episode: Communication. Instead of yelling, Taylor, how about we go talk to Steven?
Prime Video
13. Each and every single person on the show always seems to simply think about themselves. It’s very self-centered, which is exactly why these relationships have so many problems.
14. This rooftop is such a picturesque spot in Paris! It’s such a perfect, quiet spot for Conrad to just finally admit he’s in love with Belly.
15. Potentially unpopular opinion, but I actually really love the Belly moves to Paris storyline. I think she needed the time to grow and find herself outside of the Fisher boys, and that’s exactly what she did. I see more of a maturity in her; that’s refreshing.
16. If (and hopefully when) Conrad and Belly get together, I just know Jeremiah is going to make a scene. I don’t feel like he’s evolved that much just yet, so I’m curious to see how he reacts to the relationship.
17. Circling back to that rooftop scene, I just have to say how extremely adorable it was. You can see their love radiating off of each other and it just shows exactly why Connie and Belly belong together
18. Everybody, let’s hold hands and say it together: We need proper communication. I wish — after everything that they’ve been through — Taylor would just talk to Steven and show the viewers that all of these time jumps this season were worth it. Show us the growth!
Prime Video
19. Every single time I see Conrad and Belly, I’m just worried he’s going to go back to Cousins without telling Belly how he truly feels. At this point in the story, we really don’t have the time for it. It’s the series finale, and Conrad cannot afford to keep holding back on telling Belly how he feels! I mean, what was the trip for?
20. As if we needed another reason to prolong Conrad’s declaration of love, enter Fernando Cattori’s Benito! While I actually was here for his relationship with Belly, now is not the time for this to be a hindrance to destiny.
21. Belly’s friends from Paris — Isaline Prévost Radeff’s Celine, Corinna Brown’s Gemma and Jahz Armando’s Max — meeting Conrad for the first time is possibly the best thing that happened this episode so far.
Prime Video
22. I stand corrected! I can see the instant dislike and jealousy in Conrad’s eyes for Benito, and that is the funniest thing that has happened this episode thus far.
23. This picture that Benito gifted Belly is literal proof of Belly’s growth. She looks so different this season and she’s much more mature in Paris.
24. I love how the writers snuck in the joke about how people are team Conrad and others are team Jeremiah. Very meta.
25. Benito calling Conrad a villain and asking the questions everyone wants to know is the right energy for this episode. I love the “let’s get straight to business” approach! Although I knew he wasn’t right for Belly, Benito is such a great character. I wish we could have seen more of him.
26. So what I’m hearing from the reveal that they broke up six weeks ago is that Belly is single and that she willingly broke up with Benito, which means there is nothing stopping Belly and Conrad’s reunion?
27. Conrad returning Benito’s energy by saying he will always be the one who taught her how to ride a bike is why I’ve always been Team Conrad!
Prime Video
28. And, just like that, we are back to Jeremiah complaining and being dramatic. I’m exhausted with the endless drama from Jere.
29. I would trade all of these precious minutes watching Taylor be passive-aggressive to Steven if I could just spend more time in Paris with Belly and Conrad.
30. For once, Jeremiah does something I can thank him for! I couldn’t keep going on with Steven and Taylor.
31. When it comes to Adam versus Jeremiah, I am Team Jeremiah because bringing champagne from your son’s failed wedding to another important event for him is truly odd behavior.
32. They can try hard to make Denise and Jeremiah a thing, but I’m still not on board with these two.
Prime Video
33. Hmm … Conrad coming empty-handed to Belly’s birthday was an unexpected plot twist from the king of romantic gestures.
34. However, this chemistry between Belly and Conrad is more than Jeremiah and Belly had all season, so I’ll let it slide for now.
35. Above everyone else, I need Belly’s parents — Jackie Chung‘s Laurel Park and Colin Ferguson’s John Conklin — to rekindle this relationship. They deserve it more than anyone.
36. I knew he had a gift! It didn’t make sense for him not to have one.
37. I try not to compare the brothers often. But, I love that Conrad supports Belly’s move to Paris, meanwhile Jere was complaining about a study abroad trip for a few months.
Prime Video
38. I’ve said it once and I will say it again, I just am obsessed with the way Conrad looks at Belly.
39. For once, I can see the growth in Jeremiah because I think he handled the Taylor and Steven situation really well. I just wish that they could have started talking about it immediately instead of Taylor’s quiet rage.
40. Seeing Taylor and Steven make up is the prime example of why communication is key! Now, all we need is for Conrad to tell Belly how he feels about her and all will be well!
41. I can admit when I’m wrong and when Taylor and Steven first started dating each other I can honestly say I didn’t care for them together. But, here we are at the series finale and Taylor and Steven have really have grown on me. Happy they talked it out and are staying together!
Prime Video
42. Okay, we are getting down to business! Conrad finally got his courage up to talk about something real. But, this conversation seems like one for closure and not growth, which, again, is scaring me.
43. With all these newfound skills in the kitchen, Jeremiah can make his own $750 cake now.
44. Another moment of growth for Jeremiah! He’s finally admitting he let Belly give up on Paris. Maybe everyone has grown over the years.
45. I’m so glad Adam and Jeremiah had that heart-to-heart moment. It was probably very healing for Jeremiah.
Prime Video
46. If you couldn’t already tell, I am certainly Team Conrad, and I just love how Conrad loves experiencing everything Belly experiences. He loves all of the small moments with her and no one can convince me that it wasn’t always supposed to be Conrad. This chemistry is electric! I’m just worried Belly isn’t ready for Conrad in her life right now.
47. Conrad asking if Belly has moved on is the million-dollar question we all want the answer to. And, the answer is so very clear. You can tell from the look in Belly’s eyes that she hasn’t moved on!
48. Maybe saying forever was a little too fast. I think we jumped a few steps, Conrad, and Belly’s facial expression says it all. The pressure is truly on now. I’m really wondering if they actually are endgame?

49. Talking about all of her worries about their relationship being forced by Rachel Blanchard’s Savannah is the conversation we needed to have since season 1! I think this was a response to the direct criticism of their relationship, so I’m glad they added this conversation in are talking about this.
50. Okay Conrad, the time is now. This is going to be a slam dunk for him. Tell her what you feel and what she needs to hear.
51. I’ve said it once and I’m going to say it again. It was always Conrad!
Prime Video
52. Wait… what’s going on? There’s no way they end the series like this. She just needed a second to process everything that has been said. Why is Conrad leaving to go to Brussels?
53. Belly has finally realized what we all knew all along! She loves Conrad. Go. Get. Him. Belly. Do not let him get on that train.
54. If she misses him and the show ends, I, along with probably the rest of the fandom, will rage!
Prime Video
55. THANK YOU! FINALLY! I feel like I’ve been waiting far too long for this reunion. Everything is calm and exactly where it is supposed to be. Conrad and Belly are officially together!
56. And now, we are back where it all began with Belly back in Cousins with Conrad!
57. All good things, must come to an end. As of right now, I’ve been spared one last Jeremiah crash out and can sleep happily knowing that it was always and will forever be Conrad.
