Cardi B Calls Romance with Boyfriend Stefon Diggs ‘Sparkling’

Cardi B is feeling all the feels for her man, Stefon Diggs. 

The 32-year-old “WAP” rapper opened up about her mostly under wraps romance on Tuesday, Sept. 16 while co-hosting Today with Jenna & Friends. 

“You’ve got a new man. Are the sparks sparking?” co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked Cardi of the NFL player.

“Sparkling, honey. Fourth of July!” Cardi declared, grinning. 

Cardi — born Belcalis Almánzar — made it clear that she didn’t make the first move when it came to the couple’s romance, saying, “No, you’re not supposed to just reach out to a man!” and adding that she and Diggs, 31, met through “mutual friends.”

“I thought he was cute,” she shared. “I was like, ‘Oh, he gotta be mine.’ ”

In signature Cardi B fashion, the rapper joked that their life together was “more like an expression,” before curling her tongue over her lips and playfully tucking her hair behind her ear to showcase the very expression she meant. 

And while Cardi says she’s now a “football fan,” she admitted she hasn’t attended one of the New England Patriots’ wide receiver’s games just yet. 

“I be on the screen on Sunday every day cursing people out. Pass the ball!” she quipped. “I’ve been preparing for my album. But after this whole album thing, I’m going to every single game, every single one of them.”

During a recent Billboard cover story, Cardi shared that seeing her man’s regimented training for his role on the Patriots inspired her in her daily life. 

“I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh. You’re literally in the military. You really work hard.’ I work hard, but I can take a little break,” Cardi said. “I can lay back and I don’t have to be running, but it’s very inspirational to see how hard somebody works. It’s just like, ‘Wow. You should be proud of yourself.’ ”

The “Drip” rapper went Instagram official with Diggs on June 1 by sharing a photo of herself and the NFL star gazing into each other’s eyes as they laid on the deck of a yacht.

“It was very tough, but it is what it is,” she added of dating in the public eye after a split. “It’s tough hiding. It’s tough dating in your 30s, too, but I like him. I love him, today. I was always scared of dating people [because] I’ve always been in a long relationship since I was like 21.”
