Sidney Brown, the Grammy-winning producer known as ‘Omen’ who worked with the likes of Drake, Beyoncé and Lil Wayne, has died. He was 49.

Brown died in his apartment in Harlem, New York City on an unknown date. His body was discovered by a family member, his mother Martha Brown confirmed to TMZ.

According to the outlet, a relative found Brown’s body at his apartment on Saturday, Sept. 13, after employees alerted his family that he had not shown up for his shift for work.

Details on the cause and circumstances surrounding the death have not been shared at this time.

Barawine Harlem, a wine bar in N.Y.C. where Brown worked, wrote in a statement on Instagram following the news, “It is with shock and deep sadness we have heard about the passing of our dear friend Omen Sidney Brown.”

“Omen was part of Barawine’s team for over a decade bringing his unique talent to all. There are not enough words to express our feelings. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family, his friends and all who love him,” the restaurant added.

Harlem native Brown made a name for himself in music in the 1990s and 2000s after producing several hit tracks and records for such artists as Mýa and Fabolous, and many other artists from the Roc-A-Fella music label, per All Hip Hop.

His breakthrough came in 2006 when he produced Ludacris’ track “Tell It Like It Is” from the rapper’s album Release Therapy, which earned him a 2007 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, per the outlet.

Brown went on to work with Drake, 38, co-producing the rapper’s song “Shut It Down” on his 2010 debut album Thank Me Later. He’s also credited for co-writing and co-producing Beyoncé’s song “Mine” featuring Drake from her 2013 self-titled album.
