Backlash over President Donald Trump‘s state visit to the United Kingdom began even before his arrival.

Ahead of the U.S. president’s arrival in London on Tuesday, Sept. 16, a British activist group unfurled a massive banner featuring an image of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein on the path leading to Windsor Castle, where the president and first lady Melania Trump will spend a significant portion of their visit.

The protest group, called Everyone Hates Elon, has previously trolled Vice President JD VanceJeff Bezos and, as its name suggests, Elon Musk. They posted about the banner on their Instagram page, writing, “WELCOME TO WINDSOR CASTLE DONALD TRUMP 🇬🇧.

“The British public welcomed him with THIS gigantic banner right outside Windsor Castle where he is staying with the King this week. Paid for by 1770 people,” the group’s caption continued. “This trip to the UK is about a polishing Trump’s image so please DO NOT share this picture of the WORLD’S LARGEST PHOTO OF HIM WITH CONVICTED PEDO JEFFREY EPSTEIN. Thanks for co-operating at this difficult time for the President.”

Trump has tried to downplay his past friendship with Epstein in recent years. He and members of his administration have repeatedly promised the declassification and release of the Epstein files — even on the 2024 campaign trail.

It’s been a difficult sell, as Trump famously called Epstein a “terrific guy” in a 2002 interview with New York magazine, adding, “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

That quote has also been displayed by the activist group on bus stop advertisements ahead of the president’s visit.

Highlighting Trump’s connection to Epstein is particularly damning at Windsor, which is also the home of Prince Andrew, who has stepped back from public life in recent years due to his own ties to the billionaire sex offender.

King Charles‘ younger brother took a major step back from his duties as a working royal in November 2019, following a scrutinized interview with BBC’s Newsnight about his alleged ties to Epstein.

Then, in January 2022, Queen Elizabeth stripped her son of his military titles and patronages after he attempted to have Virginia Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed. The Duke of York has denied any wrongdoing and in February 2022, settled with Giuffre out of court for an undisclosed sum.

In August, Everyone Hates Elon trolled Vice President JD Vance during his family’s trip to the Cotswolds.

The group took a now-infamous meme of the vice president with a digitally enlarged bald head and posted it on billboards and signs around the area where Vance and his family were staying.

More notably, they rented an advertising van that projected the image on both sides and the back of the van as it drove around the posh vacation destination.

“Such an absolute SHAME that coverage of JD’s holiday features this meme of his face as a big bald baby, rather than peacefully enjoying scones and cream in the Cotswolds,” Everyone Hates Elon wrote on Instagram. “We couldn’t allow him to dine at expensive restaurants, while people in Palestine starve to death. We couldn’t stand by as he freely hangs out with his far right friends, while taking freedoms away of his people. Apparently you really love free speech hun @jdvance, so here you go xxx.”
