Reba McEntire gives update on Kelly Clarkson’s kids after dad Brandon Blackstock’s death

Reba McEntire gave an update on how Kelly Clarkson’s kids are dealing with the tragic death of their father, Brandon Blackstock.

“The kids are doing well, they’re all bonding together and hanging out with each other, and taking it one day at a time,” the ex-stepmom of the businessman told “Entertainment Tonight” at the 2025 Emmys on Sunday night.

“We miss him. We miss him every minute,” she added elsewhere. “We know God’s got this.”

Clarkson, 43, and Blackstock were married from 2013 to 2022 and shared two kids: River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9.

The former talent manager was also the father to a 23-year-old daughter, Savannah, and an 18-year-old son, Seth, with his first ex-wife, Melissa Ashworth.

Page Six confirmed Blackstock’s death on Aug. 7 at the age of 48, after he quietly battled melanoma for three years.

“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” a rep for his family told us.

“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

An insider also told Page Six that Blackstock had been in hospice before he passed away.

At the time, McEntire — who was married to Brandon’s dad, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015 — mourned his death via Instagram.

“Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” the Queen of Country, 70, wrote. “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence.

“There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family. Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”

Clarkson, meanwhile, stayed under the radar until she was photographed arriving at LAX on Aug. 23.

The “Breakaway” songstress has stepped away from the spotlight to mourn with her family, including canceling her Las Vegas residency shows in August.
