Feeling so much different around Mets after win they had to have

The fans in the halls and the concourses at Citi Field afterward were alternately chanting “Let’s Go Mets” and “Pete A-Lon-So.”

Mets fans are a resilient lot, even after enduring the horror of the previous eight games (all losses), and, in a few cases, the previous 63 seasons.

Somehow, through it all, the orange-and-blue faithful still believe. Or at least they hope to believe.

Pete Alonso’s walk-off three-run homer in the 10th inning changed the mood around the club, one that desperately needed changing. The $340 million club had lost eight straight and fallen as low as they’d been all year. The 5-2 win over a surprising, surging Rangers team finally brought life to a talented club that lately seemed headed for oblivion.
