Man, 26, charged with attacking, killing Atlantic City stray cats

A New Jersey sicko tortured and killed stray and abandoned cats he lured to his home with food, authorities allege.

Atlantic City police received complaints about Edwin Sanabia after the 26-year-old resident allegedly trespassed onto a neighbor’s property to viciously swat several strays with a stick.

The felines Sanabia targeted were hiding inside a makeshift shelter, according to an indictment obtained by The Post.

Authorities claim Sanabia used cans of tuna fish to lure the neighborhood strays to his home.

He beat, tortured and eventually killed the cats, according to prosecutors — before tossing their carcasses into a nearby dumpster, cops said.

In separate incidents reported by a neighbor, Sanabia allegedly punched and hit cats before dragging them away by their tails.

“We encourage our residents to report animal abuse and neglect to their local police departments,” the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

In all, Sanabia faces 13 counts of animal cruelty, suggesting prosecutors have evidence of attacks on at least that many felines.

He was initially charged in July before the case was turned over to a grand jury, which indicted him on Tuesday.

Sanabia could not be reached for comment Friday, and it was unclear if he had retained a defense attorney.
