Cardi B treats 200 to her favorite deli sandwich
There was dancing in the street in Washington Heights Saturday when rapper Cardi B held a pop-up event in advance of her new album.
Hundreds of fans showed up for her appearance in front of the Cloud Deli on West 159th Street.
Her highly-anticipated second studio album, “Am I the Drama?” is scheduled for release Friday.
“It was a lot of people inside the store,” Hameed Al Halimi, who works at the deli, said. “Everyone was dancing in the street. It’s a beautiful day because Cardi B came in the store.”
The rapper, who announced the event on Instagram, bought almost 200 sandwiches and nearly 300 drinks for everyone outside, the deli worker said.
“She bought everyone her favorite sandwich — honey Turkey provolone with tomato and mayo,” Halimi said.
Alba Cruz, lives across the street from the bodega and got caught up in the excitement.
“People were screaming, ‘Cardi B is the Queen,’” she said.
One person was arrested on a minor charge at the event but police didn’t have details.
Paola Lara, 41, learned of the pop-up while walking her pooch around 11 a.m.
“Her new song talks about bodega so she came here,” Lara said, referring to the new song “Bodega Baddie.” “People were waiting for hours. I waited because I love her music.”
Brian Ventura, 14, said people were screaming when they saw the singer arrive around 1 p.m.
“She was dancing and taking photos for the people,” the teen said. “It was a surprise. She was outside the deli. It was so cool.”
