Jake Shane Reacts to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement in 1 Word (Exclusive)

As a huge Swiftie, Jake Shane has some feelings about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s engagement.

While chatting with PEOPLE at the Pandora Talisman Collection Launch Event in New York City on Monday, Sept. 8, the content creator, 25, gave his one-word reaction to the “Cruel Summer” singer and Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s Aug. 26 engagement post.

“My reaction to her engagement: joy,” Shane answered of his response to what Jason Kelce, 37, dubbed “the proposal heard ’round the world.”

Shane has never been shy to share his love for Swift, 35.

Back in September 2024, he spoke exclusively with PEOPLE ahead of his Therapuss Live tour, where he revealed that Swift is one of his dream Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast guests, and predicted how he might act if they ever met.

“I feel like I would let her lead the conversation. If you’re talking to Taylor Swift, she’s leading that conversation, not you,” Shane said. “But I would ask her what her favorite song to write has ever been, or if there’s something surprising about a song that most people don’t know. I love those fun facts.”

At the time, he also shared that while he’s never been a big football fan, he began tuning in just for Swift, who has attended many Kansas City Chiefs games in support of her now-fiancé. If given the chance to attend a Chiefs game, the influencer’s answer would be an enthusiastic “yes.”

A month later, in October 2024, during an interview on The Squeeze podcast, Shane opened up about his OCD diagnosis and how his “hyperfixation” on pop stars like Swift helped him find comfort. He explained that when he does hyper-fixate on a celebrity, he becomes “their advocate.”

During the podcast, Shane referenced an article he wrote for Highsnobiety in May 2024 in which he further talked about hyper-fixating on pop stars and becoming “entranced in their world.”

“Something about female pop stars made the world go quiet. (Hyperfixation, a symptom of OCD itself, was in fact my only comfort),” he wrote at the time. “My OCD wasn’t fixed, and the intrusive thoughts remained the same, but falling into the world of pop stars gave me the confidence to address these issues head-on.”
