Gwyneth Paltrow admits major regrets about start of her marriage to Brad Falchuk
American marriage story.
Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Brad Falchuk, admitted they regret not living together during their first year of marriage.
During a candid conversation on Paltrow’s “Goop” podcast Tuesday with Falchuk, the actress, 52, said if she could go back, she wouldn’t make the same decision again.
“I think at the time, we really felt like we were doing the right thing,” she said. “We were trying to kind of land the plane very, very gently and slowly and get everybody on board.”
“But I’m not sure that it didn’t just prolong that thing of like, we don’t know what we’re doing. What do you think?”
The “American Horror Story” co-creator, 54, agreed with Paltrow and further explained that they had made that decision at the time for the sake of their children from previous marriages.
Looking back, he now thinks the decision to live separately gave the kids “too much power.”
“I think them having agency is really important,” he continued. “But power, to actually keep these two adults from living together? I think it made them more uncomfortable and more like, ‘OK, this is not something that is solid.’”
Although the duo agreed that they would have done things differently, they also recognized that their blended family is in a great place now.
Paltrow and Falchuk wed in 2018 after four years of dating.
The businesswoman shares two kids with ex-husband Chris Martin: daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19. The director shares daughter Isabella, and son, Brody with ex-wife Suzanne Bulnik.
The “Shakespeare in Love” actress also shared during the episode that she and Isabella, “Izzy,” now have a “fantastic” relationship, despite feeling like her stepdaughter was “testing” her at first.
“I was just going to be that presence for her. Always loving and forgiving in the face of, if she acted up. And always show her that I was so there for her that she would not question my intentions,” Paltrow said of how she mended their relationship.
The “Seven” actress showed how far they have come after she recently shared a touching tribute to Isabella for her 21st birthday.
“Happy Birthday my snizzle,” the “Iron Man” actress wrote in her Instagram Stories on top of a photo of Isabella on Sunday.
“You have taught me so much about love,” Paltrow continued. “I am lucky to be your stepmom.”
