Colleen Hoover Announces Twisty New Thriller ‘Woman Down’

The wait is almost over: Colleen Hoover has another novel on the way!

The It Ends With Us author announced another twisty thriller, Woman Down, which follows an author disconnected from her work as she seeks out a muse to get her inspiration and passion flowing again. Woman Down will debut in January 2026.

The novel begins with Petra, a once-celebrated author whose latest film adaptation sparked backlash on the internet, as she retreats to a lakeside cabin to finish her latest suspense manuscript. The pressure is on: it’s her “last-ditch attempt to save her career,” per the book’s synopsis.

Then an unexpected muse arrives — Detective Nathaniel Saint, who bears “disturbing news” but also an unlikely source of creativity and inspiration, especially since she has a cop character already in the book.

“Their ‘research’ sessions blur the lines between fantasy and reality. Each glance, every touch pulls Petra deeper into a world she thought she’d never lose herself in again,” the synopsis reads. “She’s never felt more alive. But inspiration this powerful comes at a cost.
