Larry Birkhead Celebrates Daughter Dannielynn’s 19th Birthday

Happy birthday, Dannielynn Birkhead!

Dannielynn, who is the daughter of Larry Birkhead and the late Anna Nicole Smith, celebrated her 19th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 7. A few days later, the proud dad, 52, shared a touching video tribute on Instagram —set to Ben Rector’s “Daughter” — with throwback photos of his daughter throughout the years.

In the caption of the post, Birkhead joked about having to bust “out of the emergency room” before the birthday festivities for his daughter officially kicked off.

“After this Dad busted out of the emergency room for a bout of kidney stones and a muscle tear, Dannielynn’s 19th Birthday weekend celebration got started!” he began the post. “First up- a trip to @universalorlando Hollywood Horror nights. Then, Dannielynn met up with old school friends and they had a great time.”

“19 years gone by in a flash! Here is a look back on some memories that feel just like yesterday,” he continued. “Thanks for everyone that took time to reach out and wish her a happy birthday, she read all the messages and appreciates it (despite my late post due unforeseen circumstances! ) 😂 🚑

Larry welcomed his daughter with Smith in 2007. The model and actress died from an accidental drug overdose just five months after Dannielynn was born.

Earlier this year, while chatting exclusively with PEOPLE, Larry revealed that Dannielynn would be starting college soon after taking a year off, and she is interested in pursuing a career in modeling and acting “after all these years of people asking her to do it and saying no.”

As for his thoughts on the matter, Larry admitted, “I have mixed feelings about it, but I want to be supportive. It’s totally opposite of what I had envisioned. But at the same time, it’s my job to be a supportive parent. I don’t want to be a stage parent. I’ll be a supportive parent.”

The photographer added: “At the end of the day, she’s 18 now, so I really don’t have any say. I mean, she listens to me, she trusts me in my guidance and everything. We’re such a team.”

Dannielynn’s birthday celebrations came a few months after she and her father attended the Kentucky Derby — an event they have become a staple at in recent years — back in May.

For the day out, Dannielynn wore some jewelry items from her late mom to accessorize her Mac Duggal dress.

“Betting on a great time and good weather for a special family tradition,” Larry wrote in the caption of a social media post, showing the father-daughter pair at the sports event.

The night prior, at the Barnstable Brown Gala, Dannielynn honored Smith by wearing a floor-length black gown, featuring a plunging neckline, that her mom wore to the same event back in 2004.

“Dannielynn is wearing Anna Nicole’s dress that she wore 21 years ago to this same event. Life full circle,” Larry wrote on Instagram, highlighting the attire. “She said she chose the dress because it was her Mom’s and ‘super cool.’ “
