Teen Mom star Jade Cline shared that she went to the hospital with “horrid” pain in her breast that turned out to be mastitis — even though she wasn’t breastfeeding.
“I really wanted to raise awareness, because I wasn’t aware of any of this or any of these possibilities,” Cline, 28, explained in Sept. 6 TikTok. “I’ve heard of people having, like, boob problems when they’ve had a baby. I have not heard of just someone randomly getting an infection in their boob.”
The Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star, whose daughter Kloie turns 8 this month, said that she woke up with breast pain on Aug. 29. “I thought maybe I’d wore a shirt or a bra or something that … can, like, rub your nipple kind of raw, make it, like, a little tender. So that’s what I thought it was.”

But by Sunday, “the pain didn’t go away. It progressively got worse. I could tell it was swollen.”
Cline — who said that she does not have breast implants — scheduled a telehealth appointment with her doctor, who prescribed an antibiotic. The doctor explained to Cline that “ducts, pores, they can get infected. Even milk ducts … even if you haven’t had a baby recently.”
As Cleveland Clinic explains, breast abscesses, clogged milk ducts, and bacterial infections like strep throat can all lead to mastitis.
The antibiotic, at first, helped Cline feel better, until Sept. 5, when “I felt ten times worse. I had a raging fever, the pain [was] radiating from my chest. I couldn’t sleep.”
She said it was “the sickest I have ever been, like pure hell.” When she went in to see her doctor for a physical exam, she was told it was a “severe infection” and that she was “borderline, like, septic.”
Cline said her doctor told her to go to the hospital if her symptoms got worse — which they did.
“I was actually in the hospital all day yesterday,” she shared in a second TikTok, posted Sept. 8. “Sepsis is a real thing … it onsets really quick. You do not want to get sepsis. It’s terrible.”
Sepsis is a life-threatening condition where the body responds improperly to an infection. “The pain was, oh my gosh … horrid,” Cline said.
She shared that she wasn’t septic, but her doctor said “it’s definitely mastitis, which most people think that you can only get when you’re breastfeeding,”
“Imagine your freaking boob, it’s, like, right over my heart, like your whole everything is just on fire,” Cline said about the health ordeal, which she said has “really knocked me down.”
As she wrote in her video caption, “The pain has just been crippling, but I’m just thanking God I’m not septic. I’m just going to keep taking my medications, taking care of my body, and keeping an eye on it very closely. We never really acknowledge or appreciate our health until it’s in jeopardy.“
