Russell Crowe and Girlfriend Britney Theriot Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance at TIFF

Russell Crowe and Britney Theriot had an extra-special date night at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The couple made a rare red-carpet appearance on Sunday, Sept. 7, stepping out for the premiere of Crowe’s film Nuremberg at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.

Crowe, 61, rocked a classic suit and red-lens sunglasses, while his date shined in a ’90s-style ensemble comprising a silver spaghetti-strap dress with a floral pattern and silver strappy heels.

The Oscar winner was later greeted with a standing ovation as he joined costars Rami Malek, Michael Shannon, John Slattery, Leo Woodall and Richard E. Grant, plus writer-director James Vanderbilt, onstage after the world premiere of the historical drama, based on Jack El-Hai’s 2013 nonfiction book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.

Crowe and Theriot — a New Orleans native and former actress who was also once a cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints — reportedly met on the set of Broken City in 2013 but weren’t romantically linked until November 2020 when they were spotted getting affectionate on the tennis court, as seen in photos published by the Daily Mail.

After nearly two years of dating, the couple made their-red carpet debut in October 2022, at the Rome premiere of Crowe’s movie Poker Face.

Most recently, they were spotted together taking in a match at Wimbledon in London in July, where they were photographed chatting in the stands.

The pair are also frequently seen riding bikes together and have traveled together beyond Italy and Toronto. Crowe and Theriot have been seen in various locales throughout their relationship including St. Tropez, France and Sydney.

Reads a synopsis of Crowe’s new film from Sony Pictures Classics, “Nuremberg chronicles the true story of the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime.”

“The film centers on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Malek, 44), who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes and finds himself in a complex battle of wits with Hermann Göring (Crowe), Hitler’s right-hand man,” it adds.

For Crowe, his performance as Göring, one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party, could land the New Zealand actor back in the awards race for the first time since he scored his third consecutive Oscar nomination in 2002, for A Beautiful Mind (2001).

He won Best Actor in 2001 for Gladiator (2000) after a first-time nomination the previous year for his performance in 1999’s The Insider.

Nuremberg is in theaters Nov. 7.
