Kristin Cavallari Pierced Her Belly Button with a Safety Pin

Kristin Cavallari is sharing something she regrets from her “troublemaker” years.

The Laguna Beach alum, 38, said she “pierced my own freaking belly button” when she was in eighth grade — and it left her with a “crazy scar.” She and a few friends “took safety pins and we shoved it through,” she explained on the Sept. 2 episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Honest.

Cavallari said that because the piercing was unplanned, she then had to go to the mall to get “an actual belly button ring.”

“Guys, I was outside of the mall laying in the grass with Johnny, my boyfriend at the time … shoving the belly button ring through the safety-pin hole. Like, what? Are you kidding me?” she said on the episode, which she titled “My Career In Being The World’s Biggest Troublemaker.” 

“That just tells you my mental state at that time, you know?” Cavallari said. “I could never do something like that today. I was the toughest f—— kid on the planet.”

She shared that her mom found out by reading her diary, saying, “God, why did I always write everything down? It got me into so much trouble.”

Her mom confronted her in a “smart” way, Cavallari explained. “I’ll give my mom credit. She took me shopping,” she revealed, explaining that when she was trying on clothing, “She made it seem like she just saw it and she was like, ‘What is that?’ “

“I got in so much trouble for that. But here’s why I regret it. Not only because that is traumatic as hell, but I have the worst scar,” she said.

“I pierced my belly button, like, on top of my belly button,” she said, explaining that instead of piercing herself through the top of her belly button, the entire piercing was on top. “The bottom part that’s supposed to be, like, in your belly button is on top of my belly button. So, I have just like this crazy scar above my belly button.”

“It’s insane … you can tell if someone had a belly button piercing and they’ve taken it out. They just have a little hole above their belly button,” she said. “You’re like, cool, I know what that was. No, not me. I have this, like, crazy f—— scar that  you’re kind of like, what is that?”

“It almost looks like stretch marks,” she said. “It’s a belly button piercing gone wrong. So don’t ever pierce your belly button. Take it from me.”

Summing up her youthful indiscretions, Cavallari said, “Basically what happened was, I was just constantly getting in trouble — if you guys can’t tell.”
