G Flip is revealing how they and partner Chrishell Stause are supporting one another during their in vitro fertilization (IVF) journey.

The Australian musician, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, tells PEOPLE that the experience has been challenging — and at times “so tough.”

“For anyone going through IVF — queer or straight couples or anyone not even in a couple, just even on their own — it’s such a hard thing,” says G Flip (whose real name is Georgia Flippo). 31. “And we’re experiencing the real kind of sad and dark periods of this moment, where it’s like, a little bit of good news, a lot of bad news, a little bit of hope, no hope.”

The “Big Ol’ Hammer” artist says that it’s a “real up-and-down thing.”

“In the end, you’ve got to lean on each other and be there for each other, and come out of it still a unit and try not to let it break the relationship or break people individually,” adds G Flip.

They add: “I really feel for anyone who’s going through it, and I have friends going through it, and God, it’s really sad. It’s very grim.”

In June, Stause, 44, revealed she was beginning another round of IVF — but it might be her final try.

“Back on the IVF hell train. I think this may be my last attempt,” the Traitors star wrote over a photo on her Instagram Stories, which featured some of her medication.

She continued: “There are other alternatives, but this route needed to be tried first bc of timing. So if it’s meant to be it will be. If not, pivot ♥️.”

“Live footage of me reading all the beautiful supportive messages on the last slide,” she wrote over a still from Twin Peaks. “THANK YOU🙏🏻.”

G Flip and Stause have been married since May 2023.
