Green Sex Toys Thrown on Field at 2 NFL Games After Incidents at WNBA Matchups
NEED TO KNOW
- Sex toys were thrown onto the field at two NFL games over the weekend
- The devices were quickly removed and did not delay either game
- The green objects have also made appearances at multiple WNBA games this season
Weeks after sex toys disrupted several WNBA games, two more of the devices were thrown onto the field during NFL games over the weekend.
The incidents occurred during the Cincinnati Bengals-Cleveland Browns game and during the Miami Dolphins-Indianapolis Colts game, according to multiple outlets including The Athletic and USA Today, both on Sunday, Sept. 7.
During the game in Cleveland, the object was thrown in the second quarter during a Bengals drive. The green sex toy appeared to originate from the Dawg Pound area, a Browns fan section in the east end zone.
In video from the moment, an official was seen picking up the sex toy and throwing it towards the sideline. The game was not delayed.
In Indy, a similar device was thrown during the game, landing in the end zone where a security guard removed it from the field.
A sex toy was also thrown during a preseason game between the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings last month, The Athletic reported.
The disruptions come amid a WNBA season in which multiple games were marred by the objects making appearances on the court.
On Aug. 5, sex toys were thrown onto the court during Dallas Wings-New York Liberty, Phoenix Mercury-Connecticut Suns and Indiana Fever-Los Angeles Sparks matchups.
Fifteen days after the object hit a young girl at Barclays Center, an Ohio man was arrested.
Charles Burgess, 32, faces 10 criminal charges, including second-degree attempted assault, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison. The suspect is also facing charges including interference with a professional sporting event, reckless endangerment, harassment and obscenity.

After one of the first incidents, Fever guard Sophie Cunningham shared in a post on X that the perpetrators should “stop throwing dildos on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us.”
Days later, Cunningham was hit by one of the sex toys during a game.
After that game, the Fever star reposted her original tweet and joked: “This did NOT age well.”
