A mother is mourning the loss of her young daughter, just days after the girl was “running around and dancing.”

Tasmine Nichols of Plymouth, England, said her 7-year-old daughter, Bonnie Haydon, had been “in and out of Derriford Hospital” for treatment for her asthma since July, per local news outlet Plymouth Live. However, she said Bonnie never returned home after her final admission on Aug. 22.

“On Aug. 25, she was running around the hospital playing, dancing and singing — everything a child would do,” Tasmine recalled to the outlet.

According to the mom, Bonnie was ultimately placed into a medically induced coma on Aug. 26, though the mother said she doesn’t fully understand why.

“At first I was told they were going to sedate her, so she can get a little bit of rest as she was very tired, but when I walked back in, I was then told she had to be placed into a coma, which I never got an answer as to why,” she said.

PEOPLE reached out to Derriford Hospital for comment on Sunday, Sept. 7, but did not receive an immediate response.

Tasmine said that Bonnie was transferred to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children while still in a medically induced coma, and she was “doing so well” until the morning of Aug. 27.

“They rushed her for a CT scan, and I was told my daughter’s brain had no activity,” the mother told Plymouth Live.

Tasmine said Bonnie underwent an MRI the following day on Aug. 28, which further confirmed the devastating news — her child “had absolutely no brain activity at all.

She said Bonnie was taken off life support on Aug. 29.

“Bonnie was one of a kind. Her beautiful little soul made her impossible not to love,” a friend of the family, Charlie Wilkinson, wrote on a GoFundMe that he set up on behalf of Bonnie’s mom.

“She lit up every single room she walked into and left everyone smiling,” he continued, adding that Tasmine is now “trying to survive every parent’s worst nightmare, planning a funeral for her baby girl.”

“Bonnie deserves the most beautiful and special send off, and we want to help take that stress away so her family can focus on saying goodbye,” Wilkinson continued. “Every single penny will go towards giving Bonnie the most stunning and special day, one that shows just how loved she was and always will be. She will forever be 7, forever loved, and forever missed.”
