Daniel Craig Returns in Trailer for ‘Knives Out’ Sequel ‘Wake Up Dead Man’

Daniel Craig‘s Benoit Blanc is back for a third murder mystery.

On Monday, Sept. 8, Netflix released the trailer for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the latest in Rian Johnson‘s Knives Out movies, which star Craig, 57, as the charming private detective. Wake Up Dead Man sees Craig return alongside an ensemble cast that includes Glenn CloseCailee SpaenyKerry WashingtonJosh Brolin, Mila KunisJeremy RennerJosh O’Connor and Andrew Scott for the franchise’s third movie.

The trailer for Wake Up Dead Man sees Craig’s detective Blanc describe the mysterious murder of a Catholic priest (Brolin, 56) in the middle of a Mass as “the impossible crime” and teases its cast of potential killers, each of whom Blanc seeks to interview alongside another clergyman (O’Connor, 35).

The thrilling first footage from Wake Up Dead Man previously made its debut during the Netflix Tudum 2025 live event on May 31, teasing Blanc’s “most dangerous case yet.”

Johnson, 51, shared a first look of Craig in character in June 2024, wearing a three-piece suit and longer hair than detective Blanc has worn in the previous Knives Out movies, including the 2019 original and its 2022 sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Aside from Craig’s recurring role as Blanc, each film has introduced an entirely new ensemble cast.

Close, 78, told PEOPLE back in August 2024 that filming Wake Up Dead Man was “one of the best experiences of my life.” The acclaimed actress also had high praise for Johnson specifically, saying, “He’s such a fine human being. He’s kind, he’s brilliant. He has a great laugh!”

Wake Up Dead Man is in select theaters Nov. 26 and begins streaming on Netflix Dec. 12. The movie made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 6.
