Christina Haack’s Boyfriend Praises Her Ex-Husband Ant Anstead on Son Hudson’s Birthday

Christina Haack’s boyfriend Christopher Larocca is offering praise for one of her exes!

In an Instagram post shared jointly by the HGTV star and her second husband, Born Mechanic host Ant Anstead, on Sept. 7, the exes offer a glimpse inside their son Hudson’s 6th birthday party.  

The post included a number of photos and videos, with the first slide showing a sweet snap of Anstead, 46, holding Hudson as Haack, 42, poses beside them with a big smile. Also included in the mix are photos of Hudson taking a big bite out of his soccer-themed birthday cake, followed by him tackling an obstacle course at the venue. 

Another fun activity documented in the post included Hudson hitting a piñata, along with a sneaky shot of Haack holding the stick as a group of kids surround her. Haack’s older son Brayden, 10 — whom she shares with first husband Tarek El Moussa — also got in on the piñata fun, as a clip shows him victoriously breaking down the colorful decoration. 

“Hudzo explained it’s his ‘golden birthday’ as he’s 6 on the 6th! Legend! Weekend celebrating our miracle boy with a CHAOS filled party we all gone need a lay down,” Anstead wrote in the caption. “Hudzo we love you Xx.”

In the comments, Haack agreed that the party was a success, writing “So fun,” alongside two blue heart emojis. 

Her boyfriend Larocca shared a similar sentiment with his own comment, offering an inside look at how Haack’s blended family all get along. 

“Was a fun party! Happy birthday Hudzo! Great job @ant_anstead and @christinahaack,” Larocca wrote. 

While Anstead and Larocca don’t often interact publicly, Haack’s boyfriend has already been warmly welcomed into her blended family since the pair’s relationship went public in January. 

The Network Connex CEO has gone on multiple double dates with Haack, her ex Tarek and Tarek’s current wife Heather Rae El Moussa. Earlier this year, he even joined for the group’s first blended family getaway to celebrate Easter all together. 

In March, Heather opened up about her first impressions of Larocca and how he was getting along with their kids. Along with Brayden, Haack and Tarek share 14-year-old daughter Taylor, while Heather and Tarek share son Tristan, 2.

“We’ve gone to dinner with them a couple of times, and he’s come to some kid things, and I’d say, so far I like him. I have nothing negative to say about him, and [Christina] seems happy,” she told Realtor.com at the time. 

Larocca even made his subtle HGTV debut on the trio’s house flipping competition show, The Flip Off. In the show, which also starred Anstead as a guest judge, Larocca could be seen standing in the background at Haack’s Newport Beach, Calif., home as the winner of the season was announced.

The show also marked a major turning point for Anstead and Haack’s co-parenting relationship, as the two were not on good following their divorce. 

Haack and Anstead tied the knot in December 2018, and they welcomed Hudson less than a year later in September 2019. The pair ended up splitting in September 2020 after less than two years of marriage, and their divorce was officially finalized in June 2021. 

In the years after their split, the exes were entangled in a heated custody battle involving Hudson. While it was finally settled in November 2022, their relationship remained tense for years.  

It was only after Haack’s third divorce from ex-husband Josh Hall in July 2024 that her relationship with Anstead started to take a turn for the better, which she explained during a revealing episode of The Flip Off.

“After Josh and I split up, I went over to [Ant’s] house to pick Hudson up because I was taking him to a birthday party. And when I walked up to the door, he gave me a huge hug. We hadn’t hugged in years,” Haack recalled during the  Feb. 19 episode.

“He just said ‘I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through and I’m here for you no matter what you need,'” she continued. “It was a very nice moment. We had a long talk after and we decided to put all the BS aside and be good co-parents, like Tarek and I, for Hudson.”
