A woman is fed up with her friend using her house as accommodation when going to concerts that she isn’t invited to.

In a post on the UK-based forum Mumsnet, the woman explained that she and her friend live at opposite ends of the country and take turns visiting each other at least once a year. She added that over the years, their main shared hobby has been going to concerts together.

However, last year her friend asked if she could stay at her house while attending a concert despite her not being invited to come along. The woman said she reluctantly agreed without mentioning to her friend that she felt left out.

“This year, she said she wants to see a band in my city again,” the woman said of her friend. “I suggested I may also want to go, depending on finances (this year has been tough for me, which she knows).”

“She’s now told me she’s bought herself a ticket and asked to stay with me,” the woman continued, before asking, “AIBU [am I being unreasonable] to think this behavior is a little ungenerous?”

The woman titled her post, “To think my friend is ungenerous in only buying herself a concert ticket?” and revealed in a follow-up comment that her friend usually stays between five to seven days when visiting.

A flood of responses to the post urged the woman not to let her friend stay at her house, as they argued that she was being a “cheeky f—–.”

“Say no to her staying. You’re not a free hotel and she’s using you,” one person wrote.

“If I were her, I’d spend the money I’d have shelled out on accommodation on a ticket for you as a thank you. Not buy one ticket and expect free board. What a CF [cheeky f—–]!,” another commented.

“She is sooo cheeky!! Even if she wasn’t paying for your ticket, just inviting you along would be just something that you do with a friend, especially if you want to stay at their house,” a third chimed in. “Don’t let her stay, make up an excuse — maybe then she will realise that she should treat you better!”

“You don’t have to be friends with someone who uses you as a convenience/Airbnb,” another added. “Sounds like she’s not thinking of you as a friend or someone to enjoy an experience with, but as someone who conveniently lives near a concert venue, and has previously allowed her to stay for free.”
