Tate McRae Shows Off Her Booty in Sheer Dress for the 2025 MTV VMAs

It’s okay, I’m okay, Tate McRae has arrived at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards!

On Sunday, Sept. 8, the 22-year-old singer hit the red carpet at the UBS Arena in New York in a custom sheer Grecian-style white gown by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

The ensemble featured a low-cut bustier and flowy, see-through fabric that showed off the cheeky bottoms she wore underneath. McRae kept her accessories minimal, adding drop earrings and white heeled sandals.

The Canadian pop star wore her honey-blonde hair sleek and straight and sported a smoky makeup look.

McRae is nominated for four awards at this year’s VMAs including Best Pop Artist and Song of the Year for her hit “Sports Car.”

The singer is in the midst of her Miss Possessive Tour, which just completed a three-night run at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

McRae has experienced some wardrobe malfunctions during her concert tour.

A TikTok user caught a video of the “Greedy” singer losing her shoe during her performance in Edmonton, Canada, on Thursday, Aug. 7.

At the Rogers Place arena, McRae turned around and kicked her foot as part of choreography, but her black heel flew right off. After realizing she’s missing one of her shoes, she said into the microphone: “What the f—?”

She then removed her other shoe and tossed it off the stage with a smile. “Jesus Christ,” she said, before jumping right back into the dance routine with her backup dancers. 

Another TikTok user posted an additional video of McRae losing a different shoe during at another moment during the Edmonton concert.

Like the other mishap, McRae kicked her foot, and her white shoe went missing. But after she completed the dance number, she said to the crowd: “Hold on, f— the music. I need to put my shoes back on.” Unfortunately, then she realized they were missing and said, “Who took them? No, one sec!”

McRae proceeded to run off stage, and once she came back, told the crowd: “Okay, we got it back together. Sorry about the malfunction, guys. This always seems to happen to me in Alberta. Hometown curse, I guess.” (McRae is originally from Calgary in the Canadian province of Alberta.)

In videos of performances since the incident, McRae appears to have resolved the issue by wearing heels with straps.

The singer’s recent hometown show comes weeks after her now ex-boyfriend, The Kid LAROI, seemingly confirmed their split. The 22-year-old Australian rapper, whose real name is Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, also appeared at the 2025 MTV VMAs.

The 2025 MTV VMAs air live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and MTV. The ceremony will also stream on Paramount+.
