Woman Says ‘Uninvolved’ Bridesmaids Are ‘Ruining’ Her Wedding

  • A woman says her friends’ lack of interest in her wedding has soured the entire experience
  • On Reddit, she writes that her wedding is five weeks away and none of her bridesmaids have their dresses
  • She also had to forgo a bridal shower or bachelorette party since she knew she would have to do all the planning

A woman took to Reddit to “vent” about her bridesmaids, who have been “stressing” her out and “ruining the wedding planning process” with their lack of effort.

In a recent post, the bride explained that she has known each of her three bridesmaids for over a decade, with one of the friendships dating back to her early childhood.

“We’ve been talking and dreaming about getting married since we were kids we’d all sat making Pinterest boards together planning our hypothetical weddings,” she writes. “We talked about how excited we were to get to be each others bridesmaids and now it’s finally happening it seems like they couldn’t care less.”

Although the wedding is in less than five weeks, the poster notes that none of her friends “even have dresses.” While she has “tried to be so chill” and let her friends have a say in what they wear, it has since backfired.

“I started super vague so they’d have a lot of options just gave them a general colour palette and an ideal fabric (but wasn’t opposed to something else) and gave them free rein to chose whatever,” she explains. “Then as they didn’t do anything I thought maybe the choice is overwhelming and they wanted direction so I started looking for something more specific…”

The bride “made moodboards and sent links after links of suggestions” since her friends “clearly weren’t looking themselves.” She even found one they all agreed on, but then they stopped replying in the group chat when it got brought up.

She explains that their lack of urgency has drastically whittled down their options as the wedding date approaches.

“…I’ve said so many times just please sort out the dresses bc that’s what’s really stressing me out they’ve already cut out so many options bc [there] just isn’t time for them to arrive now they already aren’t gonna have time for alterations if they want them.”

“I just really thought I’d get to have this fun experience with my closest friends and it’s just not,” she adds.

While the dress situation has been a fiasco in and of itself, the bride also gave up on having a bachelorette party or bridal shower since she knew she would need to do all the planning herself.

She added that this isn’t the first time her friends have exhibited this type of behavior, as they also “disappeared off the face of the earth when I was pregnant after telling me how excited they were to be aunts to my baby.”

She ended by saying the situation is zapping “the joy” out of wedding planning for her, asking other Redditors if they have any advice on how to handle friends who “seem so uninterested in their wedding.”

“I’m trying to not let this sour the whole wedding but it’s hard,” she concludes.
