KFC helped one fried chicken-loving woman celebrate her 100th birthday.
The fast-food chain treated West Virginia native Lovie Jacobs to a KFC-themed party over Labor Day weekend. The festivities included a catered spread of food, themed decorations and a special gift from the brand.
It was a fitting way for Jacobs to mark the milestone occasion, as she not only counts KFC food as her favorite indulgence but also shares a special connection to the brand’s founder, Colonel Harland Sanders.
Like the business mogul, she is one of 10 siblings and grew up on a family farm. At one point, she had 100 chickens, a large garden and a cellar full of home-canned food. But she still enjoyed a KFC meal whenever the craving struck.

After all, her motto is, “Live long and eat good.”
“I love KFC because it tastes so good,” Jacobs said, adding, “My 100th birthday was so special because of the food, along with all my family that was there.”
KFC told PEOPLE it was thrilled to be a part of Jacobs’ special day.

“Turning 100 calls for a special celebration — and we couldn’t be happier to know that Lovie has chosen KFC as her favorite meal along the way,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “Her motto, ‘Live long and eat good,’ is one we’ll happily raise a drumstick to.”
As she kicks off a new century of life, Jacobs enjoys visits from her family and taking part in activities at the center where she lives. She also likes to spend time with her friends there.
