Lisa Rinna reveals daughter Amelia Hamlin got life-threatening infection from nipple piercing
Lisa Rinna shared a “cautionary tale” about her daughter Amelia Hamlin’s life-threatening health scare.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum shared on her “Let’s Not Talk about the Husband” podcast with her spouse, Harry Hamlin, that their youngest daughter’s nipple piercing once got infected.
Rinna said the health issue began when Amelia was partying at Coachella at age 19.
“She was, like, up on a balcony. Somebody pushed her — kind of, like, pushing forward — and her boob went into, like, a bush, and it jammed the nipple into the boob,” the matriarch, 62, explained.
“She came home that night and, all of a sudden, she had a super high fever, and her boob was this big.”
Rinna said she had to rush Amelia, now 24, to the hospital at around 2 a.m. to get an X-ray.
“We thought maybe something was wrong with her ribs,” the former “Housewife” said, adding that her youngest daughter’s breast continued to swell up.
Rinna said they ended up calling an “infectious disease doctor,” who diagnosed Amelia with sepsis, which is when the body responds poorly to an infection and can cause organs to shut down, per the Mayo Clinic.
“From the nipple ring?” Harry, 73, asked, prompting Rinna to reply, “From whatever it punctured. She punctured something when she went into the bush.”
The details made the “Mad Men” alum squirm and say, “I don’t wanna hear anymore.”
Rinna continued to share, however, the treatment Amelia had to endure, stating, “She had to be on IV antibiotics for a week. It was actually very dangerous, guys. It was dangerous.”
The former soap star said that Amelia’s incident prompted her older sister, Delilah Hamlin to also take out her nipple piercing.
She said, “Nobody wanted to die ’cause they had a freaking nipple ring.”
