Kate Middleton seemingly brunette again after blond makeover
Days after debuting a dramatic blond makeover, Kate Middleton seems to have returned to her classic brunette style.
The Princess of Wales, 43, was pictured happily taking in the Women’s Rugby World Cup on Saturday with what appeared to be darker ‘do — albeit tinged with muted golden undertones — pulled into a chic half ponytail.
The mother of three wore a dark blazer and ruffled top, accessorizing with an understated pair of hoop earrings. She happily applauded while enjoying the match between Australia and England.
Middleton — who has long maintained long, dark brunette hair — debuted a stunning blond hair transformation while making a joint appearance with husband Prince William earlier this week.
The pair posed side by side at the Natural History Museum’s newly renovated gardens in London on Thursday, with Middleton’s long, curly blond hair — parted slightly off-center — stealing the spotlight.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a tweed Ralph Lauren blazer and black slacks for the outing, while her husband donned a dark suit with a light blue button down shirt.
The Princess of Wales’ polarizing new look divided the internet, with some on social media forums openly criticizing the bold color change.
But royal hairstylist Neville Tucker — a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth II — offered up a prediction. “Kate’s gone for a strong look that is really noticeably different to how we are used to seeing her,” he told Vanity Fair.
“She has been playing with blonde tones for a while, but last year she was the darkest she had been in a while. It makes the change quite dramatic, I would say this is the blondest we have seen her, he said, adding that Middleton looked “as though she’s had a full set of highlights.”
Tucker confessed that previously, Middleton’s sleek, voluminous chestnut shade of brunette had been a trendsetting color.
“It was seen as more fashionable, but with Kate going blonder, it’s likely to spark a trend where more people are going to be asking for blond or honey-toned highlights,” he said.
Middleton — who shares kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, with the Duke of Cambridge — is preparing for another big change.
A spokesperson confirmed to Page Six in August that the family will be relocating to a new family home “later this year” for a fresh start following Middleton’s cancer battle.
The duchess revealed she had been diagnosed with an unspecified type of cancer in March 2024, and shared that she’d completed treatment that September. She divulged that she was in remission in January.
The couple — who have lived at Adelaide Cottage near Windsor Castle since 2022 — is said to be moving to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park.
“Over the last few years while they have lived at Adelaide Cottage there have been some really difficult times,” an insider told the Sun last month.
“Moving gives them an opportunity for a fresh start and a new chapter; an opportunity to leave some of the more unhappy memories behind,” they added.
