Justin Herbert, Chargers topple Chiefs for Week 1 win in Brazil

The Chiefs’ AFC title defense started off on the wrong foot.

Kansas City started slowly and never fully recovered, falling 27-21 to the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday night in a highly anticipated Week 1 game.

Justin Herbert finished with 318 yards passing with three touchdowns through the air in an impressive outing to knock off a division foe.

Patrick Mahomes ran for one score in the third quarter and completed a 37-yard touchdown to Travis Kelce early in the fourth, but it proved to be too little, too late.
