Kate Middleton‘s blonde hair transformation appeared to be a thing of the past during her latest public outing.
The Princess of Wales, 43, attended the Women’s Rugby World Cup match between England and Australia on Saturday, Sept. 6.
For the daytime event, held at the American Express Stadium in East Sussex, England, Kate’s hair seemed to be back to her signature brown, after she was seen with blonde hair earlier in the week. She styled it in a loose ponytail for the sports match.
Sam McKnight, who served as Princess Diana‘s personal hairstylist from 1990 until her tragic death in 1997, previously called out those criticizing Kate’s look, writing on Instagram, in part, “A woman’s hair is very personal to her, it’s [armor], [defense], confidence and so much more.”
While Kate was at the England vs. Australia game, Prince William, meanwhile, attended the Women’s Rugby World Cup match between Wales and Fiji, which took place at the Sandy Park stadium in Exeter, England.

Kate is a patron of the Rugby Football Union in England, while her husband serves as the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, which governs the game in Wales. It is a role that William, 43, has held since 2016.
Princess Kate’s patronage is a newer royal role. She took on the position in February 2022, in an appointment that marked the first of Prince Harry‘s former patronages to be redistributed after he and wife Meghan Markle stepped back from their working roles within the royal family.

Kate and William share a passion for the sport with their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
According to royal editor Roya Nikkah of The Sunday Times, Prince William once said that the rugby rivalry between his family had become “quite the thing in the house,” but he was “trying to stay out of it.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ love of rugby was previously on full display back in March, when the royal pair attended the Wales vs. England Six Nations Match, marking their first time at a game in years, amid Kate’s treatment for cancer.
Before the match, the couple met with injured players supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, which William is also the patron of. William and Kate also greeted players and their loved ones at the Sir Tasker Watkins Suite.
Kate and William made their joint return to royal duties earlier in the week on Sept. 4, after stepping away from the public eye for about seven weeks amid the royal family’s summer break.
The family of five’s time off included a visit to Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where the royals traditionally retreat in August.
The time spent there took place ahead of a planned move to the family’s new residence of Forest Lodge before the end of the year. The home — an eight-bedroom upgrade from their current four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage — is located in Windsor Great Park, the 4,800-acre parkland near the famous Windsor Castle.
